Please show the entire battery. Also, check and make sure no cells are damaged. Damaged batteries can be fire hazards!!!

Both responses are from very experienced builders in the industry and I think they are expressing how dangerous batteries are. Ebike battery fires are becoming commonplace. Be very careful, looks damaged. Best of luck!

Understand, but it isnt damaged i just took the to
off it needed to know the wiring because ne came loose no biggie ill go to a shop just thought they were all basically wired the same

Can you point to your source of information? Seriously. Some people on EBR say that but I don't hear it anywhere else. And what do you mean by "commonplace"? I really don't think so.

No argument with the advice given to though.

I posted this yesterday:

Post in thread 'MOPED TYPE EBIKES ARE THEY ALL SAME' https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/moped-type-ebikes-are-they-all-same.50651/post-565253

That post is the result of many news stories I've read. Easy to find.

One of the stories is from a town where my brother lives and another from a friends fire. Fairly commonplace to me. I believe we will see more of these fires with all the low priced imports from unknown manufacturers. I have a great deal of concern and have personally taken steps to minimize accidents with my 4 ebike packs along with the many multi cell packs I own for tools.

Your first link is from October, 2018. Four years ago. And there are about as many pictures of phone battery fires. There are probably more for home fires caused by Christmas decorations or portable heaters.

At least a significant portion of what you shared seem to have a lot to do with carelessness or cheap or do-it-yourself batteries.

f course I'm not saying ebike battery fires don't happen but how many ebike battery fires are there per 100,000 ebike batteries? You can call them commonplace but that seems like a real stretch to me.

The first link contained 3 stories, one from 2018, that's the one from my brother's town, the other two are from this year. The Google search contains pictures of dozens and dozens of of ebike fires. I've read many of the stories. Pages and pages of results. Heaters and Christmas decorations are a strawman. The evidence is there, I don't feel the need to convince anyone.

It looks to be, and I asked for better pictures.

I strongly support poster J.R. comment as well as others and think bringing your damaged battery (case) to a knowledgeable Bosch e-Bike
shop is a great idea. From the picture you provided, the battery case was dropped (?) and cracked. There could be internal damage to a battery. (?)
Damaged Lithium Ion Batteries have the potential to be extremely unstable.

A lithium Ion battery fire is nearly 'impossible' to extinguish....Question. Do you who or why the Black and Red wires were cut.
That is highly in unusual ?

John

I guess I was wrong to post here because the answers are taking on a life of their own. If you read my original post you would have read there was no damage. We drilled out the lock because we lost the key an accidently hit the red wire. Its a brand new battery no damage other then lock..I took off the cover to expose wires. What I get for responses videos of dancers, people telling me fires will start, arguments among members. WTF

Please read original post

the wires were cut by accident
You never said the wires were cut by drilling out the lock. You sir ought to really step back...
How was the black wire severed? I asked for...
Please show the entire battery.
You never did...
No damage to cells what I can see
"what I can see", so I pictured the area of concern to me. It's hard to tell from a photo and one angle... I have built serviced and fixed batteries...

Now that you've decided good helpful members giving good advice with half-assed information is taking on a new life...

Not as narrow as yours.

I have stated that battery fires do happen. You and JR make it sound like battery fires are as common as farts. Lithium batteries would not exist if fires were as "commonplace" as you make them out to be.

I agree that bike batteries should be chosen, charged, and handled with care. I agree that the OP deserves the scrutiny he's been given.

I don't agree, if we're speaking English, that ebike battery fires are "commonplace" and I don't see the benefit in suggesting they are.
