Cadence monitor

So how do you know it doesn't work on your Gepida if you never wired it up? Both the Kiox and the Nyon21 can show a screen with each battery's level, and I think also the Intuvia. The Kiox and Nyon also have screens that show individual battery level. And yes the battery's are never parallelled, but are consumed alternately until they are both within 5% of each other, and then it switches from one to the other. This is how the batteries can be of different capacities.

the importer told me the motor was never setup for two batteries. he was trying to get the bosch rep to do it but it was the start of the pandemic. plus he could not find a long enough wire set to do it. but its to a big deal to switch batteries if we need it.

Typical forum experience, sometimes there is a bend in the road, sometimes a Y, most often a left turn about 2 pages in. Let's try a U-turn!

I've found a few bike computers that appear very capable and respected. Does anyone use an app (as a reminder, cadence is important to me) on their Android based phone? What App? I haven't looked yet, but do Smart Phones typically receive Ant+ signals?

I predict the next left turn will be Iphone vs Android!

I think you're saying it isn't a big deal to change batteries, but correct me if that isn't what you meant.

And what your importer was telling you IMO is that they didn't know how to do it. No surprise. Published Bosch info says it can be done. Just buy the cables (you do need 2 cables and there are a varity of lengths available) and try it out on a bike stand. It'll work.

And hijacker accusers, my original post on this thread was eaxactly about why many of us need cadence monitors.

its not a hassle to swap batteries. usually a little time for rest. but the batteries are pretty far apart one in front of the motor one in back farther back then I have seen on any bike. so either the wire would ahve to be spliced or you need a custom made cable. its not worth the expense for us. looks like the new model comes with two batteries as is. but ours is a 2019 model and I think it was just a thought at the time.

I don't have a problem with you doing what works for you, but you're passin hearsay that this is hard to do, and I don't believe it is remotely as hard as you're implying. Assuming your existing Gepida battery is the front mounted one, you'd need this Y-cable for about $45, and a cable to connect your second battery, and these come in a variety of lengths of 220mm, 310mm, 520mm, 820mm and 1100mm also about $45. And then you need the mounting hardware to clip your 2nd battery into, and a way to mount it on your frame. You would not splice any cables, and you wouldn't need to. That's what the factory will have done.

So I'm very sceptical when you say it won't work.

my passion hearsay? I am just going by what the importer told me. actually the y cable is for charging only and it would not work its way too short. that would have to be custom made for that bike. so all I would need is one of these guys for the back. but it would cost to have it all installed and without knowing if the motor was setup for it. the importer said it was not and he only deals with the gepeda brand. I dont charge the batteries on the bike so thats not a issue. https://www.modernbike.com/bosch-powerpack-rack-cable---820mm-bdu2xx-bdu3xx

OK, that's one typo each. My bad. I meant to say that what you are passing on is hearsay from your crappy dealer.
If you bother to read the Bosch information page, https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/service/productcombinations#displays
and select the display and dual battery for your setup, I'd guess that it would work, unless you have some unsuitable battery combination. Most do work.

And as I've told you the Y cable is not for charging only, it's how 2 batteries and 2 battery management systems are connected to one drive unit. Maybe you think it's too short because you didn't read my post where I tell you you need another battery cable, available in a number of lengths so that nothing need be too short.

So justify what you want to do any way you like, but it's not very helpful to spread mininformation.

I am not spreading misinformation. If the factory did not set it up then you would need a bosch rep to change the motor for it. I talked to my guy at trek today and he said they could hook the bike up and get on the phone with the bosch rep and change it since he can log into their computer and do it. its really hard to even get that why cable. my trek guy had to call in and tell them what it was for before they would even ship it.

Ordered a Wahoo Cadence sensor. Will use with an Android app for now.
Perhaps you should have ordered a better display for your Bosch E-Bike instead. The Bosch controller knows your cadence. It is only not shown on the Purion...

$250ish + install vs. $40.
I suppose if that's the ONLY piece of data you want, justifying the Kiox or Nyon doesn't really pencil out. Putting two computers onto a bike doesn't make sense to me unless it's a GPS head unit for navigation, but to each their own!

Good news and bad news and good news. Good news: the Wahoo Cadence Sensor and App are doing what I want for $39.95. The bad news: after not having a cadence monitor for 20ish years, I'm not (yet) a 90 peddler. Normal is 65 and 75 feels pretty fast. Good news, it'll get better!

I use the Garmin cadence sensor with the Fitmeter Bike app. Works very well either with the Apple watch or iPhone
