Hi everyone, After many bikeless years I decided to take the plunge and risk and get an ebike. In my 20’s I rode by bike all over NYC in Manhattan. I had nerves of steel then. I did get bikes several other times but lived in a rather hilly area so it really felt more like work than enjoyment. Now I live in an area that has some hills but lots of mostly flat areas as well. I also camp and thought my new ebike could serve as a fun think to do around home and give me some freedom when in my rv so I don’t have to feel I’m missing out if I am not towing a car, which I no longer do. I thought now in my 70’s I was too old for this but I took the bike out for a practice session, besides being a nervous wreck, I found myself happy to be peddling and when tired, happy to let the bike keep me in motion. What an amazing new world lies before me.

Nice to have you aboard GailC47, it’s amazing how it makes you feel good. Much younger than your chronological years. It also makes you want to ride more and more and more. Enjoy the rides and realize that it’s a machine and you must respect it as such. Good luck and ride responsible and safe. Send along some photos of your bike and rides.

I'm in your age group and bought a Lectric XP for many of the same reasons. I use it mainly in my RV, as at home I have to pack it up and drive a few miles to a safer place to ride. I specifically chose this model because it folds and I can get it in and out of my RV (or my van) pretty easily and riding it does make me feel at least 25 years younger - Back then, it was a Dahon Mariner 7 speed that I used on my sailboat to get around. We have a small Sprinter based motor home and also don't tow a toad, so the XP comes in real handy getting around camp and the neighboring areas without having to break camp and move the RV

After a few outings, your apprehension will go away and you'll be comfortable riding it most anywhere. I especially like trail riding with mine
