Bosch discontinue features.

If you are thinking of pitching in-app features on a Nyon l. Like the lock feature, or the mode customisation, you should do it now, the least app update removes the ability to purchase them.

Announcement:
With immediate effect, it is no longer possible for eBike Connect users to purchase premium features (Premium feature Lock, Topo range indicator, Custom riding modes) as an in-app purchase. If you have already purchased the premium features, nothing will change. You can use them as usual and the Terms and Conditions apply.

Yes, I saw that. I guess Bosch decided that anyone who has the "old" System 2 will have already bought those components if they had wanted them.

Can Bosch powered bikes be still bought new with System 2?

Over the last few days, the maps have been updated on both the Nyon device and also the Ebike-connect app.

Cheers

Bosch BES2 in indeed fasing out, for OEM's there are just spare parts, complete bikes could still be in stock but no new BES2 bikes wil be build with new components. So from a few months back just new bikes should be build with BES3/Smart system.

I did not hear of this feature to be discontinued to be able to buy premium features. Full focus I think on BES3 at Bosch.

Do you guys think its stupid to buy a new R&M with BES2? Will I be able to use it after 5y or will the support from Bosch make it usless? The bike coat 6500€..

Since Bosch is still offering parts for Bosch Classic and there are still new bikes in bikeshops with BES2 I think Bosch will back up BES2 for the upcoming years

No, I don't think it's stupid to buy a new, leftover bike with System 2. However, I would not advise that you buy one for 6500 Euro. For that kind of money, you can get one with the Smart System and gain all the advantages of that platform.

Yes, but if I am buying a bike for 6500 euro I would like to use it for 7-10 years. Will it work when the support ends or will it just be "useless" then? If something go broken, can it be fixed?

Would you choose Homage for 6500euro with 1250W battery and BES 2 or Nevo4 with 750W battery and BES3 for 6000 euro?

No, it won't be useless. Buying a System 2 bike today means no more upgrades, not no more support and no more parts. There will be no new features. No new head units. If you're happy with the bike and don't wish for anything from the Smart System, then go for it.

Depending on how much you ride, in 7-10 years, you may need batteries and maybe a motor. Bosch should have both.

there has been a dual battery version in a single color for this model

Okey, I asked ChatGPT that said it will be ”out of date” in about 5y LOL. Thought it might be useless then.

How is it with carrier, can both Nevo and Homage have a Thule carrier?

The blue Homage has 2*625w battery.

OK, you have three separate threads going, asking the same question. Pick one, please.

I'm one of the few active people on this forum that have a Bosch System 2 dual battery system (1125W/h). I think it's great for the riding that *I* do. You haven't told us a thing about your riding expectations. All you've talked about are bike specifications.

Nobody here wants to ask a bunch of questions, so why don't you tell us how (slow, fast, short rides, long rides, unloaded, loaded, etc.), where (city, path, suburbs, rural, off road, paved, flat, rolling, hilly etc.) and what your top priorities for the bike (fit, weight, cargo capacity, range, speed, looks, ride data, navigation, etc.) are.

I wonder why people spend big $$$ for R&M as if it were anything special :)
It is nothing special: a very heavy overengineered and unreasonably expensive German e-bike.
It is like buying an old iPhone. It will certainly work.

I'd argue that in 2017 or 2018 they were something special. But their designs really haven't moved on from what they made back then and the state of the art has moved on. So yeah, kind of like an old iPhone.

Riese & Muller represent a kind of conservative German old school best represented by the household appliance brand MIELE. MIELE gear such as a washing machine, a clothes dryer, a refrigerator etc. is very expensive but can easily last for 20 years. Meanwhile, the world is moving on, and the MIELE appliances become painfully obsolete and energy hungry. You could buy the most modern and economic appliance from another brand and use it for just five years at a fraction of MIELE price.

Sorry, new here and need fast answers.

Fast riding (HS) mostly tarmac when go to work year around. 10-15km. Sometimes out with tent and children (about 100km).

Most important: Sturdy, fast, reliable, can have a Thule attachéd to it. Belt, big motor etc.

The other I have watched it Moustache J on/all. Dont know..

Well, if you're out with the tent and children going 100km, assuming you're towing a trailer, then you'll have to have a) a dual battery system, b) carry an extra battery, or 3) have charging capability and several hours to recharge at the halfway point. You might be able to do that with a 750W/h battery and the 250W/h range extender for the Smart System. The dual battery equipped System 2 bike will do that for sure.

If most of your riding can be done with the Smart System bike with a range extender, I'd go for that, simply because it's the latest electronic technology for Bosch. You could always carry a second range extender for the trailer. If you just want to power up and go anywhere you want to from the jump, get the System 2 bike.
