BH bike truck load at Lenny's. Anyone else catch this on their Instagram?

Woke up this morning to see an Instagram post from crazy Lenny's. BH bike truck load in stock!

I thought what is this 2019? Am I reading this correctly? Well, I was.

Anyone else taking advantage?

My last purchased ebike was also from Lenny's. A closeout BH atomx hard tail early 2020. I have about 600 miles on it and it continues to please. No issues and I love the ride (only regret was going small frame, but made adjustments to compensate).

Long story short, I jumped on a 2020 atomx lynx carbon 6 pro s. Medium this time! I figured it would be kinda fun to own a nearly one of a kind bike on the continent.

On the subject of a truck load of bh bikes... Could they be testing the waters? Or truly just a one off load to Lenny? They were the #1 us dealer for bh after all, would be interesting if they made a comeback. I always thought they made great interesting bikes!

Here is a screenshot. They are probably going to go fast, you have to call or chat on their site when they are open.

These are 2020 and 2021 models, mostly or all atomx by the sound of it. Not old inventory so you're not going to find a nitro.

You do know Lenny sold the business, right?
I didn't! Was that recent? I just looked and saw him in their posted ads as recently as February. Sold the business but still involved in some capacity? I've met him a couple of times (and met Ravi too when he was involved with them), really appreciate the contribution they have made to E-bikes as a whole in the US.

The end of April. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/crazy-lenny-retires-again.48348/ No idea about his current involvement, but pretty traditional to have some carry over.

Thanks for the link! I could tell Lenny really liked the business side, but it was always clear he was passionate about getting people on bikes which I really appreciated.

I see in the article that the new owner (who I probably talked to - Steve) was involved with BH USA previously, seems likely they pulled some strings to bring over some new bikes to sell at pretty steep discounts. Not quite the best deal that I've had from them on my new bike, but pretty darn close (~50% off the current EU priced 2022 model equivalent). My absolute best deals there were the other 2 bikes I currently have - Atomx hardtail and Bulls FS both purchased at about 60% off MSRP.

Now I'm going to have make room and give one of my current bikes up!

The gal Cindy that I dealt with couldn't have been more helpful. A few conversations, a few texts an email and a call to lay down the plastic took most of the morning though....we ended up with two as a friend wanted in and I told a few other buddies that are on the lookout. I got the Lynx 5.5 Pro L 29"er in Blue/Blackand he got a carbon lynx 27.5+ pro Eagle black/red. Called some young friends of mine that are on a 133' boat in SE AK that I know are looking and they just texted they got a couple of Carbon Pro's also. I bet they are all gone by the end of the day!

For the same motor as a Levo and comparable wh battery size, I seem to remember that they used 21700 cells also there was an American guy that helped BH design them IIRC, and Fox suspension and decent Shimano grouppo for under $3500 shipped is a deal I couldn't refuse! It's my buddies second bike also as he has a '21 Giant 29"er but has been hunting the market for a deal as a loaner for guests and his bro when they are around.

Can't say that the AtomX bikes with the funky one sided seat tube that limits dropper drop which I don't mind as I don't use it much and verticalish down tube deal it is the best looking bike out. Crazy Lenny's is offering a 6 month warranty and as much support as they can muster as well as up to 80% if not satisfied later. However there is a place in Denver that will rebuild Brose motors better than new and the only x factor is the battery when it dies but I'm sure it can be rebuilt.

find a nitro.

Oh , Nitro city ....the Boss of Class 3 Ebikes ...5years later and still no competition !

I sincerely hope BH comes back. They missed 2 great years of sales in the US.

Btw- Whenever i see a Stromer stuck on the side of the road , i send a interstellar text to the hedge fund manager that helplessy hides nearby and tell him the price estimate adjusted for inflation would be 799$ +tax for me to stop by and adjust his ebike TQ sensor🤣👋 or maybe his IQ level needs adjustment ?

Ahead of many current 2022 ebikes !! What price u got it for ?

I wonder if they brought the CORE 1.6 Carbon ROAD BIKE. That one is A MASTERPIECE.

I picked up the model I referenced in my first post for $3500+shipping. Can't find pricing on the 2020 model anymore but looking at the current European pricing this is a $7k bike. Matches some of the best prices Lenny's ever offered.

Ok, 60 percent after the cubs went to the world series was the best deal I got, but back then bikes of this caliber simply didn't exist. At that time the higher end fs bikes were in the $4500 to $6k range at most.

Update. Got ahold of the parents of the two I mentioned above that are on their other boat as they were dropping anchor just below Juneau to tell them about this deal and just heard from them that they got some for themselves. They are going to have them shipped here and pick them up when they get back down here. I will put them together and have them charged up and looking forward to riding with them here. Ultimately they will end up in Montana.

So once again thanks pxpaul for the heads up!

I just found that Lenny's email in my junk folder. Tempting. That full suspension mtb on the right; I looked it up on their Euro site. Unlike the earlier BH which sold in the US with Yamaha PW and PWX drives, that mid drive there is possibly, a Brose mid drive.

There was a person, here; a while back now who was in desperate need of a replacement battery for his old style Atom Lynx. For fun, I looked around. Actually, alot of looking around on the 'net as nobody in the US had a replacement battery for sale. Except for one vendor in CA. Who had a grand total of one BH Atom Lynx battery left in stock. For the entire United States. Never heard back from him as to whether he was successful in getting that battery and using his BH again. Which leads me to this point:

The BH's powered by Yamaha featured the interchangeable external 500wh battery. The display, the controller and the PWX motor are all easily replaced using outside vendors; independent of BH.

But what happens when an issue crops up with this new batch of found BH's? Who backs up the warranty when there is no BH US Warranty presence? Where is the stock of batteries for these bikes? Motors? Controllers? The parent company in Spain sure won't.

Lenny's is going to sell every one of these BH bikes at a discount, but should the time come when something crops up in the drive or battery system, I strongly think, based on past experiences with this brand, that you are going to be out of luck.

Just some food for thought and pondering amidst the excitment of up to 75% off....

I take that back. It's more likely a Dapu mid drive motor. Follow this link to see what a member here had to do to repair an internal drive gear within his BH motor: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/which-motor-do-i-have-please.31767/
BH bikes only used Dapu for their hub drives (edit - bikes they sold in the US at least, that link was interesting!) - all of these are likely going to be Brose (possibly Shimano though I did not get an impression they had any o the 'xtep' models which are shimano vs atomx being brose).

You are right about that bike on the right in the photo - it is a newer (2020+) model which was never sold in the US - high likelihood it is the standard atom model which have brose motors as well.

Since I already have a hardtail Atomx (no issues), and am now getting the newer carbon FS model, I am probably going to get one for my wife as well so that we have 3 bikes with the same battery as a bit of a failsafe.

Also keep in mind, issues tend to become amplified on forums - and yes it would definitely stink to be SOL, but it is a risk you'd just have to decide on taking.

Since the new owner of the shop was previously the BH USA CEO perhaps there are channels in place for better support in the future (Would love to see them return to the US, they make some great bikes - I've owned several at this point).

Here are the 2020 and 2021 catalogs - I believe they received bikes from both those model years:

2021 catalog

2020 catalog

It was mentioned earlier that the sale bikes have Brose S motors limited to 20mph (Class 1). Same as in the Specialized Levo and at least one service center I know of is in Denver that will rebuild to better than new for out of warranty claims although CL is offering a 6 month + warranty

As far as the battery goes they are 2170 cell batteries that are rebuildable as most batteries are. Otherwise all other components are just bicycle parts that are replacable. d

When purchasing bikes at a discount you accept responsibility by researching and weighing the options for the lower cost and if you don't realize that before investing then caveat emptor. There is very little reason to state the obvious frankly.

The problem here is that Lenny's as of this writing, 4 days after making their availability of these bikes on Facebook, known, still has not published just what bikes they have arriving; bike model name, sizes or prices. I don't know what is so hard for them to put this info on their facebook page or website....

Let's hope that somebody there at Lenny's has the ability to change the bike's top assist speed from an Euro mandated 15.6mph to 20mph. I'm sure it's just a software change but Lenny's should be the one doing it.

@JRA--Got a line on a US battery rebuilder who will re-cell a proprietary battery (Yamaha, Brose, Bosch, Shimano)? I looked with no luck. And I've looked for a long time. None will touch it because of the proprietary-no spare parts available for sale to the public-BMS and other internal and external components.

Regards to proprietary: Somebody with more expertise might be able to provide insight as to whether a Brose Specialized BMS, charger and motor, will "talk" to a BH Brose battery BMS, charger and motor. Heck, the battery fit in both bikes? As a Haibike Yamaha owner, I can tell you that my Yamaha external battery will power up and run an older BH Rebel Lynx with no problems. And yet, Giant has a Yamaha drive and battery that is proprietary only to that bike brand, and not the Haibike or BH line of Yamaha's. That's something for you folks buying these bikes might want to ask if you have any thoughts of replacing that BH battery with a Specialized battery further on down the line.

Good luck and many happy miles to the owners of these "new" BH bikes, I sincerely mean that.

Oh, and I bought my Haibike Full FatSix from Lenny's, over 5 years ago now. Best bicycle purchase I ever made. But there will always be a leap of faith in buying sight-unseen, online. Especially in the area of ebike drive and battery system....
