Beverages

MY EYES! I CANNOT UN-SEE THAT ALMOND MILK NOW! I truly feel for ya foofer. My wife found out she's gluten intolerant. I try to support her by eating the same things she does now. The weird part is if I sneak out at work and get something with bread in it I get sick now! Life can be cruel sometimes.

Plain allmond milk is pretty dull. The sweet stuff is like drinking your milk after you had cereal horrible. The almond milk is very neutral and it soothes my esophagus really well. Better than the antacid does. So So I use it to mix with my fiber and protein powder.
Now get this. ok grains and complex carbs like beans have bothered me the most especially beans. I have not eaten them in 30 years. even fermented bean paste in better Chinese restaurants will bother me. ok after 15 or os years or maybe more my wife became sensitive to grains and beans. now she cant them at all. sometimes oatmeal or such but wheat and rise are big problems. ll out dogs became cleric to grains and now we don't even bother we go straight to grain free food. families share gut bacteria and its a real issue here.

foofer............well, just what can you eat? You mentioned meat. So what could be a nice tasty satisfying dinner for you. It can't be just almond milk all day everyday. Just what food stuffs have you got to play with?

everyday I can eat meat eggs hard cheese the onsweetned almond milk and normal supplements. thats what I can eat that never bothers me. I eat veggies three times a week. everything els I have to be careful or not at all. no real splurges anymore. carbs will make me loopy if I eat much it caused me to crash our tandem and almost lose my finger in a woodworking accident. so I have to be extreme careful eating them.

So no carbs pretty much at all. Difficult. Vegetables three times a week. Meat, eggs, hard cheese. Top chefs wouls struggle with only those ingredients. But it is something to play with. You could have cheese and ham omelette. Fried beef, stewed beef. It sounds bearable, just, like being on a constant no carbs diet. You'll have to be inventive with things like meat loaf, meat balls, liver, gravy soups. Then there is chicken. You didn't mention fish, which would be a great help. And then you have delicacies you could have, snail, jellied eels, mucus membrane soup, etc.

I know it must seem very boring to be so restricted, but frankly i think most people are bored with food even when they can eat anything. I was in a farmer's market today and there was wonderful foods all around, but I looked at each individually and none of them appetized me. So for my tea (5pm meal) I just had ham and cheese on toast, and even that I didn't finish. So remember you are not missing out very much if at all, effectively. Not as much as you might think.

the thing is pretty much the only seasonings I can handle on a day to day basis is salt and pepper. when I ride and burn 1000 or more calories is a bear to replace it. I can eat nuts somewhat but got to watch the carbs and the fat in them. I can handle fish but plain it's like nah. don't like cooking it ether. going out is almost impossible. simple Chinese food is the usual like meat and veggie dishes with simple sauces. no rice of course. or unless burgers. the weird thing is before I was really reagin to food I found carbs dud not give me any extra energy.I was riding a bike and would eat a bunch of fruit before and no extra energy. since then I have tested this over and over. Now with a watts meter I can see that carbs don't fuel me at all only extra protein does. I will loose energy with carbs. if I ate them on a regular basis I will lose muscle and get weak then it takes months to recover it. I can eat a few carbs but it's pretty minted about 15 grams a day or so. but thats over the day not all at once.

What the heck do I know? Nothing really. My understanding is that the body has to process protein to get energy from it, has to convert it to a sugar energy. The body has to convert carbs to a sugar energy, too, but it is already a step nearer than protein. So, perhaps you can help the body by doing as much protein processing before you eat it to make it straight ready for the sugar conversion part. So liquidize it and get it to the right consistency all so that it is ready to go. Then info needs to be found out about how to help the body's conversion to sugar, the science of it.

Beverages. Last evening I juiced fruit and then diluted it with both cold and hot water for cold and hot drinks. These were very good indeed, but not really practical because if the pulp and mess and sink blocking and mess, etc. Something easier needs to be found. The normal cordials I find a bit too not have the quality I require. So I think I am going to start having a look for ready made cordials, juices and stuff and have a try with them.

I got some licorice today. It was a little stick of hard brittle stuff and put some hot water on it and left it and it is delicious. Sort of like sarsaparilla. So things are happening. Unfortunately I've caught a cold, but i'll gather the cordials and stuff ready for a tasting session......'I'm getting Levi jeans, museum staircase, Dunlop tyre, with an open window', haha

I use protein powder when I need it fas. it does not fill me up though so it's best with some regular food. e gif protein is the best as it does not have any carbs but its hard to get anymore without all the fake sweetness.ya you lose about 1/4 the calories just digesting protein. I bet thats why my calorie intake is higher than usual.

Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro

Kombucha

Black French press coffee

And of course good ol high quality H20

Fooferdoggie.........it's very sad to hear hear about your diet problems. It sounds horrific, and i worry about it getting you down. But, maybe it is the optimist in me, but I feel in my gut that there is something out there for you which could help a great deal. I was reading about Scott and the Antarctic, and they needed a lot of calories, and what they did was to stack the sleds with olive oil which they could heat on a primus. It was olive oil specially chosen because it was the max calories by weight. So maybe there is something like that, a single high calorie substance which you can tolerate by some special reason, and you could work with that. These days, explorers might have foods in pellet form, coated with something. I don't know, but something super high calorie, a sort of sugar so you are ready to go. Keep looking. Keep hope.

I will survive I have learned to deal with it. between my guts and my esophagus I doubt ican take anything on a regular basis.

I can miss a day with no consequence. Was going to switch to every other day, but gastroenterologist suggested not to.
I can somewhat too but I pay a energy price. like if I want bunless burgers I eat them at the end of the ride that mayo will slow me down for several hours.

I often don't eat too bad. here are some of the things.
I made what I call stirfry soup. I slice meat then cook it fast and hot in a lot of oil Chinese restaurant method. it takes two minutes to cook. the put the veggies in with garlic stir fry for a few seconds use a little water steam them then add broth and seasons and boil it for a couple minutes almost instant soup with meat thats nice and tender and full of flavor. fried ride made from grated cauliflower instead of rice. we have a taco truck that makes cheese as the shell they are greasy as hell but once in a while really good then tonights dinner a couple of chicken thighs Deboned and sliced and I bake them toll the yard really crispy. said and paper (I hav to keep it very simple for the evening meal. sometimes Isue a pepper sauce on it if my eshagaus is not hurting too much. the soup is great for my wife one bowl so no leftovers and I can vary the flavor really easily.

Foofer... thank god for that. It had been.getting on my mind about how you were subsisting on fragments of starvation rations. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Andrews liver salt is what they used to use for indigestion heart burn...powder in the glass then water in, a quick stir and then glug the lot down in one whilst it's fizzing like mad.

Also they used to suck Rennie's which were like compacted chalk mint tablets

Root beer is my favourite drink by a country mile. UK and European attempts at the drink are foul and I stick with USA imported drinks with Hanks Root Beer being my pick this month.
