Hi all, I wanted to share my experience with this seller and save someone else the headache of having to deal with their lies and delays. I ordered a replacement battery for my ebike from a seller named Zhang Li (not sure she’s actually one person) at Jiaozuo Meijing New Energy Technology on Alibaba back on July 17th. They had good ratings and reviews on Alibaba so I felt the gamble was worth it. The order was a 52V 21.2Ah, Samsung 53G cells, 40A BMS, Reention Dorado Plus case, charger included. $338 shipped. I paid the same day and was told it would arrive in 10-15 days. It's now September 17th and I still don't have a battery.
In short:
The first battery they shipped, they recalled themselves mid-shipment on July 22nd without telling me. I only found out five days later when I checked FedEx and saw it was going back. I had to message FedEx support to find out the sender requested the return. I messaged Zhang Li and her excuse was that the warehouse shipped the wrong model. It was weird and frustrating that they wouldn’t let me know that, but she chalked it to a miscommunication with the warehouse and promised to quickly dispatch the correct one.
Second battery showed up August 13th. Opened the box — 48V 26.5Ah. Wrong voltage, wrong capacity. Charger was for 48V too. I pointed this out and she profusely apologized, gave me a return shipping label and AGAIN said the right one would be dispatched after I returned the wrong battery. I returned the battery as instructed.
Then nothing. I got weeks of "let me check," "wait a moment," and "will update you Monday." Multiple Mondays came and went. I asked for evidence that the battery was actually being produced and on August 31st, she finally sent me a photo of a production slip all in Chinese. I ran it through Google translate and it turned out she just sent me a random slip for a 48V battery. Again. I had to correct her for the third time and called her–she apologized and promised to ship the right one the next day.
The NEXT week on September 4th, after not responding to multiple messages, she finally sent me the China Post and the FedEx tracking number. I plugged the number into China post and, you guessed it, nothing. And as of right now, over two weeks later, the Fedex label just says "Label Created." Nothing was ever actually handed to either shipper. I've since tried calling Zhang Li multiple times —she’s always "in a meeting" or the call just gets declined. When I asked about the tracking she said the freight forwarder "changed the tracking number" but couldn't tell me what the new one is.
So this has now been going on for over 2 months, when supposedly it would be 10-15 days. One battery was recalled mid-shipment, one was the wrong battery entirely, and the third appears to have never actually shipped. I’m also not sure Zhang Li is one person because I have had a separate Zhang Li with a different photo message me on Alibaba asking if I was interested in deferring payment for 60-90 days on a battery lol.
I'm filing a dispute and I'd honestly appreciate any advice from anyone who's been through the Alibaba buyer protection process, because I'm over it. And also for everyone looking to purchase a new battery, I hope you google their name, read this, and just avoid them entirely.
