An interesting design for a dual motor mini-bike... don't try this at home with kids. ;)

The Ariel Rider D-Class Scrambler electric bike is one of the most powerful, thrilling e-bikes I’ve ridden in a long time. And the fact that it has a fresh mini-bike look only adds to the charm. On the spectrum of e-bikes that spans from nearly-pedal bikes on one end to almost-motorcycles on the other, the Ariel Rider D-Class is definitely on the motorcycle end. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t capable of pedal-assist or even being reasonably comfortable while pedaling. Pedal-assist is absolutely doable on this monster of an e-bike.

Ariel Rider D-Class e-bike specs

  • Motor: Dual 750W (1,500W peak) hub motors (3 kW peak total)
  • Top speed: I hit 33 mph (53 km/h), but can be limited to Class 2 speeds
  • Range: Up to 40 miles (64 km), but less when riding at top speed
  • Battery: 48V 18Ah (864Wh), removable and lockable
  • Weight: 75 lb (34 kg)
  • Wheels: 20 inches with 4-inch fat tires
  • Brakes: Tektro hydraulic disc brakes (180 mm rotors)
  • Front suspension: Inverted suspension fork
  • Extras: Long bench seat, included fenders, large LED headlight and tail/brake light, LCD color display, kickstand, Shimano 7-speed drivetrain, passenger pegs

Please tell me that you don't really have to have the key in the lock (under the seat) in order to ride this thing, as Micah did for the whole video.

That is just so... 2010 in design!

Yep... I noticed that too! ;)

You don't need it. Micah most probably forgot to remove the key. By the way there are people making 36 mph on this e-bike. I guess Micah did bypass speed limit only to 33 mph .

I am not surprised at the 36 mph speed with dual 1.5 kW peak motors... Micah was doing burnouts up to 10 mph. 😉
