I've been running Shimano Ultegra groupset on my SOMA roadbike for years, and I like upper tier derailleurs.
Want to upgrade the derailleurs on both our bikes, Mini Step & Rover.

Does anybody know which one of these would be the proper Deore XT Shadow RD+ derailleur to install?

RD-M8120-SGS long cage
RD-M8100-SGS long cage
RD-M8050-GS medium cage

Will also upgrade to Jagwire during install.

BTW, I experienced chain tension issues riding my Rover offroad.

I should have looked for the first three online before asking.
Medium cage RD-M8050-GS is expensive, costing over $200. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071GDH1GN/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&smid=AMY4I718ZUBOU not sure I need to spend this much.

Long cage RD-M8100/8120-SGS are both more reasonable at approximately $115, but are not available.

I did find these, and either one of them should do a very good job.
Long cage Deore XT RD-M786 SGS Shadow Plus Rear Derailleur $92.57

Medium cage Deore XT RD-M781 GS Rear Derailleur $82.40

Does anybody have experience with Deore RD-M781 GS or RD-M786 SGS?

No 10 speed Shimano XT derailleur will work with your Rads. Shimano 10 speed for mountain bikes uses what they call Dyna-sys; a different cable pull ratio that is not compatible with Shimano's other 7/8/9 speed indexing systems. You would have to go back another generation to the M772, which is a 9-speed.

Thank you, I'll take a look at M772.

I upgraded to the 9 speed deore XT shadow on my giant dirt E+2. Medium cage. very nice derailleur. had no issues with it. Changed the jockey wheels to hope ones which have better bearings.
