My 2024 Trance E+3 came with a monstrously-sized so-called “Smart” battery charger. It has a momentary-contact button you can push that enables maintaining the battery at 60% charge for storage. This would be a nice feature if it was actually implemented in a way that worked.
Setting up the feature is fine, just press the button after connecting the charger to the bike & mains power and the button lights up to let you know that the charger is in maintenance mode. The problem occurs if your home happens to experience a power failure. When the power is restored, the “smart” charger forgets that it was last in maintenance mode, and proceeds to charge the bike to 100%.
With all the other logic in this charger, I can’t imagine that it would’ve been prohibitively expensive to retain the state of this button between power cycles.
