2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Guys,

Try VeloViewer :) "Data from Wahoo, Garmin, Strava apps/devices" :)

It's been around for a while. From what I understand, you'll need a Strava paid subscription and a Veloviewer paid subscription to make it all work. $30/year isn't a whole lot of money if you like diving through Strava data.

I have created my Veloviewer account several year ago and don't pay a dime for using it. Not sure if a paid Strava subscription is necessary, maybe (I took a Strava subscription for a month and now am cancelling it).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the free version only allows you to analyze a small number of rides, like 200. The Pro version unlocks all of your data. Maybe your version is grandfathered?

All is possible! I'm probably allowed to use my old VeloViewer account and I had a Strava subscription for a month :)

Happy New Year, all! Even to the grumpy Charge :)

@Saratoga Dave: Would you create "Our Rides... 2026" please?

My First Rides in 2026

So, Poland has a real winter now. It all started with black ice then a massive snowfall combined with strong wind and frost. A major expressway S7 (Warsaw - Gdańsk) was blocked on Dec 30th, for instance. I was, of course riding as needed taking the advantage of my studded winter tyres on Vado SL.

I decided to meet a friend in Rembertów (one of the eastern quarters of Warsaw) on the New Year's Day. It involved riding a cleared road, a Fast Commuter Train ride and then riding a cleared bike path and then roads. That was the easy part :)

Anna helps me keeping my guitar combo in the storage. It cannot last forever, so I needed taking several pictures of my amp for the selling purposes. Anna treated me with food and beverages, and she was also giving me a good advice on where I could take the next summer vacation with Brix. (Anna is a good e-biker but also a seasoned world traveller!) I could also admire the system of lifts in her garage, allowing storage of e-bikes belonging to her and her late husband under the ceiling!

It was snowing again. I made a decision to ride to Warsaw-City train station to see how the winter Warsaw looked from the cycling perspective! There were the surfaces:
  • Access alleys: full of deep snow, unrideable
  • Ternary road: hard to ride (but doable)
  • Cleared bike paths covered with fresh snow (rideable)
  • MUPs covered with packed snow (ridable slower on winter tyres)
  • Uncleared bike path segments (unrideable)
  • City streets (cleared, perfectly rideable)
For some reason, Komoot/Wahoo adviced taking a segment on a long stretch of main Warsaw roads: George Washington Avenue, Poniatowski Bridge, the Aleje (Jerusalem Avenues). The traffic was minimal, and it was just a pleasure to ride there!

There was -2 C and moderate wind from SW. I made almost 30 km on the day.

A fantastic news!
There were 5 teams to start in MOSTy 500 Gravel Relay Race on the last days of 2025:
1. PLAN C - 21:59 (hours)
2. Mostona - 32:38 (hours)
3. Mosty500 dream team - DNF
4. Nie zes*raj się - DNF
5. AM CYCLING - DNS

PLAN C rode for 510 km in 21 h 59 min, and it were the black ice days and nights! The team was:
Małgorzata Cze! - 2 laps
Artur Fenix - 4 laps
Mariusz Konopko - 2 laps
Jacek Mikulski (my brother) - 5 laps

I contributed to the team's success as I gave Jacek my 50 mm studded winter tyres for the 3 black ice night laps! :)

Leaving for London today. Happy New Year to all!
