I had a ride planned in my head today, around 70-80 miles but I was loving it so much I extended it and it was one of my best of the year so far! Out the door at 6.40am and it was misty and a pretty chilly 7C so it was time for 3 layers for the first time in a while, thankfully the mist cleared after just 3 miles! I stuck to the main roads at the start of my ride with very little traffic around, there was very little wind at this time in the morning so it was nice to enjoy the still conditions! I made my way to Carluke and turned east towards Carnwath, after passing through Kilncadzow I was greeted with this view of Tinto Hill! It almost looked like it was snow on the summit! ;)

After the big climb from Kilncadzow I was then greeted with this spectacular view, the photos don't do it justice!

This was looking back at the descent I just flew down!

The amazing views continued as I reached Harelaw!

I enjoyed the descent from Harelaw to Carnwath and I had another lovely view as I approached Kaimend!

The descent from Kaimend down to Newbigging is always fun and today was no different, with no traffic on the road it was even more special! At Newbigging I turned NE towards Dunsyre, leaving the main roads for the first time! Another fun road that is full of ups and downs and twists and turns and very nice views of the Coulter and Pentland Hills!

After passing through Dunsyre its a steep climb with more amazing views of the Pentlands!

After the big climb I had a big descent down into Dolphinton, such a lovely descent but the road is pretty rough at the bottom! At least its smooth on the descent so no complaints from me!;) From Dolphinton I turned NE on to the main A702 towards West Linton which was going to be my turning point but I was feeling strong and my first battery was lasting well so I decided to continue NE passing through Carlops and the strangely named village of Nine Mile Burn! From there I took the A766 towards Penicuik, it has been 12 years since I used this road! Some of it was really smooth but most of it was very rough and I was glad to get through it, it was a real bone shaker in parts!

I had a big climb out of Penicuik where I turned south and joined the A701 towards Leadburn, I had another awesome view of the Pentlands here!

I was now heading SW and the wind was now picking up, it was from the SE and around 15-20mph so nothing like the crazy winds we have been experiencing! The A701 starts with a long climb and a very nice descent through Lamancha and Romannobridge, where I switched to my second battery at 52.5 miles! The road then rises and falls through Blyth Bridge and then its a big climb up to Kirkdean, where I stopped for a snack and a break and grabbed a couple of photos!

I was going to turn west at Kirkdean but decided to head south for Broughton to take the amazing back road out to Biggar, another reason for taking this road was the stunning views of the hills to the south!

The road to Biggar is a real belter, its quite a rollercoaster and I was very glad I made the decision to take it! The final descent down into Biggar is just sublime!:D From Biggar I headed NW for Carnwath so I had the wind at my back now and with a 4 mile climb ahead that was very welcome, I stopped for a couple of photos on the way up the first climb!

At the top of the final climb I took this photo looking back down the hill!

I then had a cracking 3 mile descent before the big climb up to Carnwath!

The climbing continued at Carnwath where I turned north towards Braehead, part way up I turned west to take the back road to Yieldshields, this road has an awesome descent at the end and I was flying down it when a moron in a BMW X5 decided to stop near the bottom and he was taking up the full road! I have no idea why he stopped, when he saw me crawling past him he decided to start moving again and blocked me...thankfully he turned left at the end of the road as I was going right!

From Yieldshields I decided to take the main road into Carluke which would give me a really nice descent down into town, my plan was to head into Carluke and take the back road to Law Village! Another really fun road with some nice descents and very twisty turns, its a tough climb up through Law Village though but my second battery was doing well so I got to use assist level 2 all the way up! I then took the back road to Allanton and headed up the climb through Hareshaw with 98 miles covered and just over 4 miles to home!

I had 30% remaining on my second battery with just a mile to go and flew up the final climbs to home! I arrived home just after 2 pm and the rain was due to arrive around 3pm, it hammered down just after 3!😂 What a brilliant day that was, when I set off into the mist in the morning I wasn't expecting to be doing over 100 miles! Somehow I have managed 333 miles this month so far, despite some truly awful weather!

Bummer. Let us know what you find out.
Just an internally intermittent wire on the main motor power cable , they have upgraded it now, my friend has a working spare, so Im going to tape the duggery out of it to help the pivot point of the strain.
The hilarious thing is the motor cut, I freewheeled down the wrong path and had a climb back to the van.
No worries I can do this
Hit the gear lever, cable slips out of the clamp and leaves me in top gear.
So I shouted at Jesus and pushed the thing up the hill.

Thats the part that is failing, Im sure its common knowledge to Specialized owners, but you pull the plug on the left out and pivot it down to connect the charger, everytime that puts strain directly into the cable kink, basically hanging there during charging.
