They are entirely commited to speed and the banter of win and lose, and my rides frustrate them because they cant measure a performance or improvement from them.
Aside from your penchant for riding rocky goat paths within inches of guaranteed-fatal drops into the sea, I think we have similar riding philosophies. Exploring is my favorite thing to do on an ebike. And I couldn't care less how fast others ride or how seldom they stop.

I do enjoy my SL's built-in power meter. Interesting to watch rider power respond to mood and terrain and slowly creep up over weeks and months all by itself. But I have no desire to use that or any other data in any kind of training program.
 
Thanks Stefan, but I doubt I will be registering or even using the app, I see my friends, I know where that leads.
Endless choices of motor performance, suspension settings, it becomes far too large a part of their mountain biking experience, every fail is blamed on a setting or a part performance.
Chris, I think you should show same concern about what's under the hood of your high performance Levo in your own interest: the matters of range and riding safety. You have got a racing machine from Biff who certainly had set the Levo up to his liking but his settings might adversely affect any aspect of the e-bike's behaviour where you are concerned. There is a minimum checklist of what you should absolutely do:
  • Connect Specialized App to the Levo and Reset to Factory Settings
  • The Tune section gives you three default presets: Universal, Battery Friendly and Racing. Choose Universal (a good balance between the performance and range)
  • Do a standard set up procedure of the suspension fork and the rear damper (unless Biff is of a similar weight as you are)
  • Set the proper tyre pressure.
Then you can safely set off exploring your own way :)

An anecdote, of course. Once, I rented a Levo SL for a couple hours ride with friends. I took the e-bike from the LBS and only asked for setting the proper saddle height. As long as we were off-road, I was delighted. For instance, I was demonstrating to my friends how easy it was to ride deep sand (with the dropper seat-post halfway down). Then we had to ride asphalt. Suddenly, the friend in front of me unexpectedly stopped! I squeezed both brake levers then made a picturesque Over-The-Bars :) Why? The brakes on e-MTBs are powerful. As the Levo immediately stopped, the unadjusted suspension fork collapsed all the way down and sent me flying! :D I should have locked the suspension before riding into asphalt but what did I know at that time? :) An advanced e-MTB is a bronco that you need to learn to tame and ride :)

His Levo has no display, and I'm sure @Chargeride doesn't need one :)
(If he needed one, a Specialized TCD is the inexpensive option. I had my Wahoo on the demo ride!)

Shock needs some air, borrowing a pump.
I do have a 1.5kw unrestricted mid drive, which I rode up a mountain, if this 600w 15mph bike gets away from me i'll download the app 🤣
 
Dont get frustrated, Im not a complete philistine.🤣.
Hes already turned up the lower power settings, they all have.
Brians going to connect via his app and max the motor response speed and cadence max, though he thinks its already maxxed out.
 
Perhaps the default settings would be the best for the start. I think the Shuttle mode (high cadence) is OK but the Acceleration Response doesn't need to be immediate 😊

Increased ECO mode means a shorter range.
 
So hot today 31C.
Took the new bike to impress the ladies on the beach, only to find entire sea wall path covered in sand.
Did consider going back for the fattie, but pushed it instead, which is hilarious.

Only took one pic because I look like a perv, this is the IOM jet ferry setting off for the 90 mile trip to the Island.
I could take the bike tonight for 130 quid return, 18 quid camp site.
300 quid on drinks, 20 on food.
Bail 2 Grand, search rescue free.
 
Haven’t posted any pix of my daily 20-mile ride recently, but here are a couple. Today was a beautiful day for Fättie to preen by the pond — my 10-mile-out turn-around point. The second pic is of some lily pads on the pond that are sprouting lovely flowers. I don’t know lily pads normally do that, but it’s pretty cool to behold.

A quick shout-out to @RabH who turned me on to the Selle SMP TRK saddle a while back. This thing is transformative. I’m having no issues anymore staying comfortable in the saddle. Thanks so much, Rab!!!

Looks like a great place to ride. Our neighborhood ponds have lots of water lilies. Beautiful in bloom! Learned only when we moved here that the flowers close up at night and reopen the next morning. Who knew?
 
Garmin Tomek, or The Saturday of Friendship ❤️

My riding mate Tomek gets better and better. He can ride faster than I thought; his slow riding had been dictated by the need of following a slow navigator (me!) :) but he can ride a way faster than I thought. He is also a long distance rider by heart. Recently, he made a Gran Fondo (130 km) but Strava ride recording betrayed him, registering only 112 km (70 mi)! What a shame! I thought I owned a Garmin Edge 540 I really didn't need so why shouldn't I lend him the device?

We met at a place I personally call Friendship Square. That's the place I used to meet my late friend Jerzy for rides. It took me 21 km to get there in occasional showers. Here, Tomek is installing Garmin Connect app.

We stopped by a Żabka convenience store. 'See that building behind me? I work there!' proudly announced Tomek :)


Garmin Edge Is Better Than Wahoo ELEMNT now!
We rode to Tomek's place. Installed the handlebar mount and configured the device. Tomek found something that really shocked me! Historically, the Edge was always configured on the device itself (a jungle of submenus) while ELEMNT was always easily configured from a smartphone app. Tomek discovered that now you could configure a newer Edge from Garmin Connect app! Taking into account Wahoo had damaged the design of the Version 3 of its devices, Garmin is a clear winner! (The only thing Garmin cannot do yet is discovering e-bike Dual Batteries).

META Bar
Tomek was learning quickly. He learned how to plan routes in Komoot and then transfer them to Garmin. His first route was "Home to META Bar" :)

Tomek wanted to somehow repay my help (tyres, the bike computer...) so he treated me with lunch. It started raining! We sat in the bar for an hour and had as many as two meal courses! :)

Tomek planned two more routes: one to accompany me home and another to return home. All I can say is it was a good and fast ride!
