How does cold weather effect battery performance and range ?

RE: keeping your battery warmer My Trek XM700 is equipped with a Bosch ebike system. I purchased a neoprene battery cover that insulates the battery and is said to reduce power loss in cold temps. While I can't quantify its effectiveness, I think this little "jacket" may help on shorter rides...

    Anyone dropped the battery?

Good catch on the flashing LED's signal of malfunction--I'm glad you mentioned that. When I bought my bike, the battery case had some deep scratches. It looked pretty bad actually, and had clearly fallen off the bike when being ridden. Maybe more than once. However, as I said, the battery...

    Anyone dropped the battery?

Hi Durukan, I bought my Trek xm700 with 200 miles on it. It had been used as a demo at the bike shop, and obviously the battery had been dropped a number of times. It was nicked up considerably. But even with all those scratches it worked just fine. Since then then I've put on about 2,000 sweet...

    Trek Support STINKS

No company is likely to make every customer happy, right? GuruUno's disappointment notwithstanding, Trek has earned its reputation, in my view as an owner of several Treks, as a purveyor of fine bicycles and an oustanding source of support for owners.

The seatpost is a Thud Buster, not a fun buster. Sorry for the error.

Known Issues & Problems with Trek Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have a XM 700 with 2,000 miles on it. The fork Crown suspension sometimes makes a sharp pop when actuated in a certain way, as when hitting a stone, or a big crack. Whoops! I have it at its firmest setting, BTW. Was scary at first, but now I think that's how it works, and it is indeed working...

    Walk Assist + Throttle?

My Trek XM700 was set up in Holland, and the walk assist works, pushing the bike along at about 10-12mph without pedal input. I haven't used it except to verify that it works.

    Pedal suggestion?

Regular shoes on the bare side; SPD cleats on the other.

I'm using the Shimano PD-M324 SPD Dual Platform Pedal. Versatile, easy to use.

Bosch shift detection - what does it do?

My Trek XM700 is equipped with the Bosch Performance Speed system, which features "shift detection". How does this work? To reduce stress on the chain while shifting, I usually let up on my pedaling force before and during a shift. I'm wondering if this is unnecessary with a shift sensor...

Front end not balanced, shakes, wobbles

If I take my hands off the bars and the front wheel wobbles, I press a knee against the top tube to dampen the oscillation until I can get my hands back on the bars.

Is there any way to tell how much a battery has been used?

The Bosch Intuvia on-board computer has a feature to indicate how many hours of battery on-time it has. To access it, bring up the settings menu by pressing and holding both the Reset and Information buttons. Then cycle through the settings. This is also where you see serial and firmware...

    Just purchased new xm700

I use a 58-60cm road bike, and my 55cm XM700 is almost too tall. At 5'9" (I'm 6'), you would probably do better with the 50cm frame IMHO.

    Just purchased new xm700

I have an XM700. The monoshock seems adequate. However, it feels a bit sticky when I lean on the bars to test it. I'm still playing with the amount of preload. Regarding saddle comfort, my Thudbuster LT suspension seatpost with an a different saddle feels way more comfortable to me. Of course...

My LBS says that the Super Commuter will cost around $5k, putting it a a significantly different price point than the XM700.

    Just purchased new xm700

After a 5-month wait, I got my Trek XM700+ in early August. Overall, I'm very pleased. I had high expectations, and the XM hasn't disappointed me in any way. Some observations in my first 200 or so miles: Smooth pedal assist. It is more subtle than my girlfriends hub drive, which supplies a...
