Thanks for that. I went for these Tues do that's reassuring. I don't intend riding on loose surfaces so hopefully I can keep to that!

    Sheng milo 1000W Fat ebike

BTW nominal power is the manufacturers guesstimate and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Peak power is what the motor can achieve in short bursts and continuous power is what the motor can safely run at indefinitely. 250w motors can have a peak of 800w which is why some people on here claim...

    Sheng milo 1000W Fat ebike

Not for myself, but friends want the assurance of tried and tested support, which Cyrusher offer. I know there are US distributers but shipping to the UK is £200. Still at least £1000 cheaper than going through their commercial website. That's from the manufacturers own shop on Alibaba for the...

    Sheng milo 1000W Fat ebike

No I didn't. I cancelled. Now looking at the Cyrusher bikes that are a lot less that half the RRP on Alibaba. You can get a well specced bike that has a few YouTube reviews and an active Facebook group where the manufacturer responds to questions and requests and sorts problems amiably. They...

I hope you paid with PayPal etc! Looks like a misplaced decimal point. There are a few like that on the Chinese sites too.. They will realise when the payment goes through. They have full cancellation rights. Mine was £600. A few are advertising at that price but even tho they're communicative...

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

European countries are free to make their own laws AFAIK although I would imagine that the EU would want you to increase not decrease the limits. Also Germany would take advice from the cycling nations like the Netherlands.. and what would they care - 250W is ok with no hills :D

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

I think the change is very necessary, and so do all of my friends. I'm a bit miffed that on an e-bike forum there should be an objection to what I think is a completely reasonable request. I'm annoyed that this is putting people off signing the petition.

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

I don't get why on earth you would object to a reasonably powered motor made lawful. Sure we can all burn out our motors proving that we're real men.

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

Because I'm not that rich Stefan. A few people here seem to sneer on anyone who doesn't have £2500 to spend on a quality e-bike.

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

Personally I have no interest in speed at all. All I want is enough torque in a rear hub motor to make it up hills unaided. Speed limited to 15mph and enough torque would be absolutely fine.

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

We've tried 250W bikes and they don't do it. Probably cheaper than yours. 250W nominal is that 250W all told? I forget. I see the US 750W limit means just that - not 750W nominal with 1000w+ max.

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

I don't see why an athlete would want an electric bike unless they were competing using one. I agree though that the infrastructure is a massive concern.. but with no bikes to use the cycle lanes why invest?

UK petition to change the law to allow >250W

Where I live in Wales with a 250w motor I'd be walking the bike most of the time. 250w would be fine on the flat/ small inclines. The Netherlands/ the land of the bike has no hills at all. They're not going to complain about the limit, it probably originated there.
