Known Issues & Problems with Bosch Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Yes, this is normal and will settle in 50 to 100 miles. It's caused buy a stiff main motor bearing where it's tight on the drive sprocket boss and this coupled with the new seal and silly felt washer, saps big power for a while.

Sounds like the circlip is still broken, sapping the motor of power because the more power you/the motor puts in the harder the crankshaft gear is forced against the outer motor casing, sapping its efficiency. If the torque sensor is fitted at the wrong angle (this happens as you tighten it up)...

Sounds like one of the circlips that secure the crankshaft gear has snapped or jumped its grooves. This is quite common and it allows the crankshaft gear to grind into the transfer gear carrier and motor cover. This gives the strange sound, sometimes a vibration through the pedals and lack of...

Known Issues & Problems with Bosch Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

All bike noise seems ton travel down the frame and emanate from the motor area. If you are absolutely sure it's not your saddle post, rear shock, rear linkage, head stock, crank arms or pedals, then it's your motor bolts. There is no service guide for Bosch motors. They are a fit and forget...

As stated by Bosch: The two T30 torx screws on the left side are 9 to 11 Nm If you have 13mm bolts with nuts on the other side they are 25 - 30 Nm If you have bolts that screw into the frame, please consult the bike manufacturer. There is nothing I can think of in the motor that revolves the...

You didn't say you checked the motor bolts? This is the most likely suspect. When the motor is fitted new in the factory it has what they call a damping film between the motor and the frame. This damping film is compressed by the motor bolts when new and everything is quiet. Over a relatively...

Does it still make the noise if you pedal while standing up? If yes, does it get better or worse? Personally, the first thing I would check is the tightness of the motor bolts, followed by seat post, then rear suspension linkage, last rear wheel assembly. Most noises around the bike get...

Bosch selling kit w/ gears to fix the Performance CX

I mean if you back pedal it applies braking to the rear wheel. I'm guessing not if you have a PowerFly. I will be honest, I have seen a lot of motors but not one with 3 numbers in the last three digits. It is always 037 or 063 etc. The easiest thing to do would be take a look or let us take a look.

Just a little thought Batmick1, if you continue riding, you stand a good chance of greatly increasing the damage in your motor. Obviously, if they give you a new motor, no problem. But there is a good chance they wont. You may want to err on the side of caution in case this delay ends up costing...

Known Issues & Problems with Yamaha Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

In that case it's obviously internal. The problem is, there are a lot of moving parts in there and several of them can give the symptoms you have described. Some may be bearing failure, some may be as simple as a lack of grease. In your case, your motor is too new to be running out of grease so...

The most common reason for a "scrapping grinding sound" I have found, is when the spider meets the motor cover. It only happens with a few spiders but when it does it can sound and feel bad. The only other time is when the right-hand crankshaft bearing collapses completely and all the balls...
