    Ride1UP Core-5 Reviews

I don't have a Core-5, but don't recall ever striking my heel against my 700's rear mounted kick-stand, even before I put on my SPD pedals. I have to say that I actually prefer it and ordered my 700 shortly after they became standard on the XR model. One thing to note on that PAS percentage is...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

    Prodigy available for pre-order

Here's the post where Kevin said the Brose motor will have a 2 year warranty. https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/ride1up-mid-drive-teaser.40066/post-391167

    Prodigy available for pre-order

The price didn't go up on the XC that I posted above. It was always about $2300. The additional cost is optional with the special color. The tires were always Maxxis as well. I don't think the extra year of warranty is worth it. Kevin stated in the other thread that the Brose motor has a 2...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

I missed this in my last response. It's power based now, NOT speed. Speed is affected because of a change in power, but the settings are based on power. So, if I set mine to 5%, it will output a little over 30 watts, and it doesn't matter if I'm going up a hill at 5 mph or down a hill at 25...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

Yes, I mentioned that in 2 of my last 3 posts in this thread. And that's been a feature going back over a year, prior to the power based assist change. It's actually the feature that first got me looking more closely at Ride1Up in 2020 before buying my bike in early March 2021. I've seen...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

Exactly, that's what I said. Speed "rather than power". It's the newer generation Ride1Up bikes that use power based assist. I have not heard if NCM has made that change with any bikes or is planning on it.

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

If the cadence based PAS is like the NCM Moscow, then it's a speed based assist that acts like a cruise control rather than a power based assist. That would be a non-starter for me. Old 700's used to function that way, but newer generations use the power based approach, and the PAS levels are...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

It sounds like you would like a 700. It shows the gear you're in on the shifter, it's already class 3, throttle works from a complete stop in any PAS level (including 0), and it will go past 20 mph with throttle only with a sufficiently charged battery. You might like the wider tires and...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

I have a 700 and have no regrets. I also have some bumpy roads on some of my routes. The 2.4" wide tires on wide rims were great until they dumped heavy thick gravel on one of my main routes. I only rode over that one time, like riding on marbles, and I am taking a new route until it thins...

Advertised/Displayed Speed vs Actual Speed, & Noise

There are other Brose based bikes from big names like Specialized that you can get support/maintenance from an actual dealer so that you would never have to install replacement parts, and you could appreciate the quiet Brose motor. It will cost a little more than a Prodigy, though...

Advertised/Displayed Speed vs Actual Speed, & Noise

I compared my 700 speedometer to a GPS speedometer app when I first got my bike. They were matching up pretty well. After 50 mile rides with some hills, the trip meter on the 700 reads only a fractional mile more than my bike apps using phone GPS. See my comments in this thread about the...

What set of features and price points would you prefer in your E-bike battery?

I almost always charge to 80% or less. My bike has a voltage and percentage readout on the display. I still use a lot of muscle power when riding my e-bike, so range has never been an issue. I've used less than 20% charge riding over 50 miles. I will charge to 100% occasionally to rebalance...

    Prodigy available for pre-order

Out-of-stock, orders are expected to ship in January. https://ride1up.com/product/prodigy/ One example of the various models/colors of Prodigy: That cool color scheme costs extra. Video that shows the color changing: This is the mid-drive teaser model referred to in this older thread...

I am finding it too hot to ride

I would have ridden in 82 in the morning - that's fine, especially early morning when the sun is lower in the sky. It was raining here again yesterday, so I missed another day of riding. Supposed to be low 80's this afternoon and not raining, so I should be able to get out and ride again.

500 series, making grinding noise from hub motor

Plugging in the battery is pretty straight forward, so I'm not surprised if they don't provide detailed instructions on that. With my R1U 700, the light is green but turns red while the battery is charging. And I don't fully charge it, so the light is still red when I remove it from the...

Trying to decide between 500 and Limited

The geometry is posted on the website. Looks like you could fit an XR, but go with an ST if in doubt.
