    Launch of the 2017 North American e-bike survey!

    Thanks Dewey. I will leave further "spread" of this e-bike only survey to the folks at PSU. Adding to this forum should get things out a bit more.

    Launch of the 2017 North American e-bike survey!

    Portland State University is excited to partner with PeopleForBikes and the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association (BPSA) to conduct a survey of e-bike users in North America. The survey looks to understand why people purchased their e-bike and how they use them in their lives. Additionally, we...

    32,000 km and still going!

    I decided to update every 2,000 km as another 1,000 every 3 weeks or so. Spring has sprung out here in the West, a wet one this year but no longer white and slushy. Looking to hit the "round the world" distance of 40,000 by the mid to end of the summer. That will be about 30 months from date...

    30,000 km in 27 months

    Just passed the 30,000 km on the weekend! Another 10,000 and that'll be around the world, should make that by late summer early fall. With the winter and the icy roads we've had this season commuting has been a real challenge to say the least, but the temperatures are coming back up to...

    29,000 km Spring is slowly coming...

    I had 4 almost 5 weeks where riding to work was impossible and even locally it was very intermittent. Biking on ice and snow is not recommended if one likes to ride upright, I found that out last year and did not wish to repeat a couple of wipe outs. It's definitely a cooler winter than last...

    New RC3 and DS3 controller and display = fantastic!

    Ya I did note the lack of some of the settings which were available on the old one. I have to get my bike representative to hook up to the system and get Bionx to reset the regen braking back to where I had it. A bit of a pain but I can live with a "bit of pain" with the increase...

    28,000 and holding due to ice snow!

    I hit 28,000 last week shortly after upgrading to the new display and controller, which are over the top fantastic. For most of last and this week she's staying pretty close to "home" as there is about 5 km of ice and snow on my ~ 20km trek to work, -it's just not worth the risk. Sounds like...

    New RC3 and DS3 controller and display = fantastic!

    I upgraded my 2 year old Ohm with D500 system with the new controller and display 2 weeks ago and wow what an improvement! The new display is visually "stunning". You can set different default views from full technical details to basic or enhanced graphics, the colored LCD is so even the...

    27,000 Km in 21.5 Months

    Will do Dan. It is an addiction but a good one. Ya I hear ya, my 1000 kms every 3 weeks is starting to drop a bit with the winter weather settling in, I should get my second wind when I hit 63 next Feb....

    Hub vs mid motor wear and tear

    I noted the maintenance on the European vacationers using the Haibikes (I assume this list of parts replaced was for two bikes). After 11,682 km they reported: "Parts replaced – 4 chains, 4 cassettes, 6 sets of brakes, 1 sram hub, 2 rear wheels, 1 Bosch controller, 2 bike stands, 2 sets of...

    27,000 Km in 21.5 Months

    Yes my XU 700 is still going strong! I pushed things a bit on the chain and running gear, with 16,000 Km on this chain. In hind sight I should have changed it at 10,000 as the wear on the de-railer wheels was considerable, but it was completely operational. As well as the derailer wheels I...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

    Sorry but I suspect that you're hooked now. There was a recommendations for a different spring when I first installed it but the black springs I got with it seem to do the job just fine. I'm typically under the 200 lbs. cross over to the next spring, -unless I'm packing my groceries and...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

    The original seat post I had was the Suntour NCX. It's OK, but when compared to the "Body Float", it like apples and kumquat's. The BF is really so comfortable I'm speechless, and that is unusual for me. With the riding I do it is worth every penny, -again, for a cheapskate like me that is...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

    Ah flat tires, now let's see I think my count is now sitting at 10-12, about 80% in the rear (tire that is;-)). I'm doing better, as in getting less flats, after moving to higher puncture protection tires. I have settled on and recommend the Energizer Plus from Schwalbe, -the Marathon...

    OHM bike thoughts & impressions

    Great write up, totally agree with all that was said and the comments. After almost 19 months I'll be hitting 22,000 kms at the end of this week on my XU700, so you have many "big silly grin" trips to look forward to. Why is it that ebike riders are smiling and the regular riders aren't...

    using throttle on urban 700

    Not sure if I can move that slow Vincent. ;) When I use it for walking assist I'm already moving over 2 mph I guess. It just works. And on the hills I just start with some pressure on the pedal and the throttle kicks in, again it just works. If you have a dealer around try one out, just be...

    20,000 in just over 17 months

    I passed the 20,000 km last Friday on my Xu700 which happened to be bike to work week out here at a few days over 17 months of riding. Some figured I'd break some record for distance on a ebike, but apparently some vacationing Aussies hit 22,000 last week in Europe on their Haibike's. I may...

    using throttle on urban 700

    No need to change the software Vincent. I use the throttle once in a while assisting my walk up a ramp when it's a really low tide (I live on a boat), and it comes in handy starting on some nearby steep hills with stop lights 1/2 way up, which I never seem to make.

    18,000 Km in under 16 months!

    With the summer weather already upon us on the West coast my winter 1000 km/month rate is now getting up to 12-1300. I should be coming up to another maintenance overhaul (first and only one was at 10,000 km), -but nothing is showing any wear or "slop". Bottom bracket is tight, chain shows...
