Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

Most hub motor cadence controllers don't measure pedal speed. They use pedal motion as an on/off switch for assist, Then they use either speed control or current control as described above, My KT controllers have a choice or selecting one or the other. When Ahicks was around, he talked abiut...

    Skarper conversion kit is interesting.

£1495 or $1940 USD. Pretty expensive, What if they cost reduced it to $1200 and supplied with extra rotor gears so you could move it between bikes? Still too expensive for me. But it sure is innovative

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

Was that Library of Congress ruling related to digital rights on e-books? I don't see how that would apply to an ebike battery that disables itself if the user opens it up. I was surpised to learn that I could, if wanted, download Netflix movies to my Phone and watch them later, in places with...

    Battery recharge with dynamos?

The old fashioned bike dyamos already have the frame mount. As kids, we snapped them against the wheel and the tire sidewalls would spin them. Credit Ralf Roletshek for the picture. I remember they did drag. You may want something bigger to put 2 amp hours into a battery.

    Battery recharge with dynamos?

Won't work at all. It costs power to spin those dyamos when they are not charging the battery. More power than they will return to the battery when activated. Now you could do it anyway and pedal the bike harder to recharge the battery, Then you could say it works, without taking into account...

Inner tubes. Our friend AND enemy.

It's not hard to identify loose spokes by the sound when you tap them or the feel when you torque them. With time/experience you'll never have to stare at a wobbly front tire again. And if you have bikes with rim brakes, you can true the rim so it sits in the center and never have those annoying...

    Inner tube sealant

I watched a video where a kid used fix-o-flat on a bike tire. Made a horrible mess. Just like it does on a car tire except only the tire installer sees it, I'll start carrying a bottle of slime with an air pump,

    Inner tube sealant

What kind of results have people seen with the after-the-flat sealants, like a small can of fix-o-flat. I have gone riding with others and they get a flat tire. Would be nice to have a portavle fix in my bag to help out, Now in my car, fix-o-flat only works about a third of the time, since I...

    need help choosing controller

I think your best choice is to replace the display and get the bike running again. as that has all the above figured out. Then consider dropping in bigger motors. Otherwise, you have to buy two identical controllers sized for the G06 motors, plus a new LCD display. At this point, you have to...

    shifter and derailer question here...

I handle this by going all Shimano, Upgrade both. A Shimano Quickfire trigger shifter works well and is arouns 20 bucks. The old one probably follows the SHimano standard if you want to keep it. If not, well 20 bucks,s

Headed to Rome, Italy next week, then a week in Amalfi Coast. Any eBike advice?

I could probably ebike thru the big cities in Europe, but only if they had ride/share rentals where you can dock the ebikes so it's no longer your responsibility. Wouldn't want to chance a private party rental from a shop, and being afraid to park/lock it.

Totally Nub Question Regarding Gear Changing

Well, if you're at the bottom, ride a little on flat ground, shift down to 1, and it will eventually get the chain moved. This is a true noob question that is a puzzle sitting at a desk, but quickly answers itself in real life. If you're climbing that hill, you can still downshift if you're...

    need help choosing controller

That would be this product selling in USA for around $1350 USD shipped. Doesn't seem very reliable if a little water killed it. Does it use one controller or two? Can yuou switch between front, rear, or dual motors...

    Hill Climbing Assistance

I've wanted to get a low cost friction drive to put on a bike for the grandkid, but for me the cost savings aren't there. I emailed the Qiroll guy a few years back, and he was talking about $300 w/o a battery, I already have batteries of varying size. There was also the question about wet...

Best ebike conversion kits to a stock Raleigh 3 speed.

Nice looking bike. I think it would be a fun conversion. Small bottle battery and mid drive like the TSDZ2B, or a small 250W front motor. You won't outrun the brakes except for going down steeper hills.

What's the difference between M6 and M8 Julet and Higo connectors

The display is powered by battery voltage, and there are DC-DC converters to lower that to run the logic level cicuitry and to power the serial data port. With my KT LCD3 display, if the receive data line is broken, the unit can set the PAS levels, but there is no speedometer info, because...

Controller appears shot, 10 pin Z1013B plug, not sure of next move

IT's usually 5 wires to an LCD display, or 5 pins on a connector. Carefully probe all possible wire pairs on those pins. You said you already done this, . Gotta be battery voltage on one pair. If not, well then there is something wrong with the controller, ,

Adjust the calipers so they are centered, and clean the rotors/pads if you want the brake to work better.

Controller appears shot, 10 pin Z1013B plug, not sure of next move

You found no voltage on the power line going to the display, and it doesn't turn on. Displays almost always run on battery power. Usually, it's a straight shot from the controller's power input wire to that display line. Pretty tough to kill that connection, especially with a potted controller...
