    Stromer commuters

I think I used to see him commuting along the beach path every day (Marina Del Ray/Westchester/Playa Del Ray area). He used to have a Specialized Turbo X before the ST2 if it’s the same guy I’m thinking of. I’m sure he’s still at it but I haven’t been riding in that area for a while.

    CCX Smaller Chainring Options

Yes, if the BCD is the same it should be a simple swap. Keep in mind that if you drop way down to a 44T the chain ring guard might not work as the stock one is setup for the 52T ring. Also, with all of that power on the CCX you might want to go for a 46-48T ring. I have the original Cross...

Going against the trend and changing my 9 speed from a wide ratio mtb cassette to a close ratio road bike cassette. (11-36 to 13-25)

I did the same thing 11-34 to a 12-28 with a 52T chainring. I had lots of miles on my road bikes under my belt and knew that those 1 tooth jumps in the middle of the cassette allow me to spin at my preferred 80-90rpm cadence. With wider range cassettes I would often find myself wishing for an...

From the Craigslist Used E-Bike Files

I see lots of these DIY e-bikes ads on my local CL. A few years ago there was a big price difference between DIY and OEM bikes but that’s no longer the case in 2018.

Giant Quick E+ vs. Juiced CrossCurrent X vs. IZIP E3 Moda

If your bike commute will involve lots of slowing/stopping then mid-drives are going to be better due to the torque multiplication you get by leveraging the bike’s gearing. The CCX should handle that hill fine if you hit the steeper parts with momentum and hold the throttle down. I haven’t...

Grinding noise and motor engagement issue

If I had to guess, that sounds like the nylon reduction gears in the hub motor to me. How is the trueness of the rear wheel? My rear wheel was not coasting very well when my rear wheel was out of true.

Known Issues & Problems with Juiced Bikes Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I placed my order for the 9 transistor Cross Current S controller but this is what I received. I’m pretty sure this is the old 6 transistor controller. A little bummed out since I wanted to install it this weekend. I’ve sent an e-mail to support so hopefully they can get me one shipped out soon...

New Cross Current S - Gear Skipping

Make sure your pedals are installed tight. If they back out they can creak. I have a creak on my Cross Current but I think it’s because I cross-threaded while installing the pedals. It’s one of those things I keep putting off repairing.

New Juiced Bike Model: The Scrambler, fat 20" Wheels, Class 3, Double-Seater

I just pre-ordered one of those horns.

What type of 2 prong mini cannon plug power connector does Juiced use? (see photo) I want to tap in via Y-splitter for an INNOVV K2 DASHCAM/ACTIONCAM

I have a CCS controller on the way so I’m interested in splitting this connector as well to run and headlight and taillight.

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

I ordered the CCS controller today and I already have the LCD display. I’ll be upgrading my original Cross Current to the 20A controller. Looking forward to the extra 50% power increase.

Known Issues & Problems with Juiced Bikes Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I just noticed that Juiced is now selling complete replacement wheels for the Ocean Current and Cross Current S/Air. That’s good news for those of us with older / higher mileage bikes.

JUMP- ebike Share Company in San Francisco and DC -coming to Chicago?

Having used them, I think a big appeal of the dockless e-bikes/scooters is that you can leave them anywhere. The Verge had a story about how Bird was looking to launch a service that delivers a scooter to you. If that happens I can see a subscription model making sense given that it could...

    Replacement Rim(s) for a Super Commuter +8S

On the plus side, there’s nothing proprietary about the wheels on mid-drive e-bikes. So you’re always going to be able about to find a replacement. For a 50lb e-bike you probably want something designed for bombing down hills on a mountain bike versus the lightweight performance variety.

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

Installing the 52V vs. 48V battery means roughly 4V higher charge voltage. So 4V X 20A = 80W of additional peak power with the 52V battery in the CCS. That is just the theoretical difference. The number could be higher in practice if the 52V battery voltage sags less under load.

    Canadian CCX

According to this blog post it’s the same CCX we are getting but with a slightly bigger battery possibly to compensate for the higher prices in Canada. https://juicedriders.ca/blog/

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

Once your bike is out of warranty you could buy a spare controller and display if it really concerns you. The CCS is still offered for sale new on their website so I wouldn’t be that concerned about the parts disappearing soon. I think Juiced Bikes is in a much better position than the big...

NEW Juiced Models: Rip Current, and Cross Current X; Tariff Pricing Announced

I agree with Bruce. I’d like to see another example of an OEM torque sensing e-bike that can be upgraded after purchase. Cadence-sensing bikes are a non-starter for me personally. We’ve already established that the original Cross Current can be upgraded with the CCS controller/display to bump...

Swapping to an IGH on the CCS?

I’m on the original Cross Current. That’s a good deal with only 500 miles on it if that XL frame fits you. Should come with the 500wh battery if he paid $1800 for it new. The Cross Current frames fit big so you’d probably need to be at least ~6’3” to fit the XL. I’m 5’9” and the M frame is...

Swapping to an IGH on the CCS?

For me personally I prefer trigger shifters because of my road bike background and the fact that I shift a lot. I’ve never really cared for twist shifters (slower and less precise IME.) I upgraded my Cross Current to a Deore shifter, 10sp rear derailleur the slicker polymer coated Shimano shift...
