New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

It sounds like you would like a 700. It shows the gear you're in on the shifter, it's already class 3, throttle works from a complete stop in any PAS level (including 0), and it will go past 20 mph with throttle only with a sufficiently charged battery. You might like the wider tires and...

New ebiker. About to buy. But nothing available

I have a 700 and have no regrets. I also have some bumpy roads on some of my routes. The 2.4" wide tires on wide rims were great until they dumped heavy thick gravel on one of my main routes. I only rode over that one time, like riding on marbles, and I am taking a new route until it thins...

Advertised/Displayed Speed vs Actual Speed, & Noise

There are other Brose based bikes from big names like Specialized that you can get support/maintenance from an actual dealer so that you would never have to install replacement parts, and you could appreciate the quiet Brose motor. It will cost a little more than a Prodigy, though...

Advertised/Displayed Speed vs Actual Speed, & Noise

I compared my 700 speedometer to a GPS speedometer app when I first got my bike. They were matching up pretty well. After 50 mile rides with some hills, the trip meter on the 700 reads only a fractional mile more than my bike apps using phone GPS. See my comments in this thread about the...

What set of features and price points would you prefer in your E-bike battery?

I almost always charge to 80% or less. My bike has a voltage and percentage readout on the display. I still use a lot of muscle power when riding my e-bike, so range has never been an issue. I've used less than 20% charge riding over 50 miles. I will charge to 100% occasionally to rebalance...

    Prodigy available for pre-order

Out-of-stock, orders are expected to ship in January. https://ride1up.com/product/prodigy/ One example of the various models/colors of Prodigy: That cool color scheme costs extra. Video that shows the color changing: This is the mid-drive teaser model referred to in this older thread...

500 series, making grinding noise from hub motor

Yeah, key is just use for unlocking/locking battery. I certainly never leave it in!

I am finding it too hot to ride

I would have ridden in 82 in the morning - that's fine, especially early morning when the sun is lower in the sky. It was raining here again yesterday, so I missed another day of riding. Supposed to be low 80's this afternoon and not raining, so I should be able to get out and ride again.

500 series, making grinding noise from hub motor

Plugging in the battery is pretty straight forward, so I'm not surprised if they don't provide detailed instructions on that. With my R1U 700, the light is green but turns red while the battery is charging. And I don't fully charge it, so the light is still red when I remove it from the...

Trying to decide between 500 and Limited

The geometry is posted on the website. Looks like you could fit an XR, but go with an ST if in doubt.

    Help picking new ebike

Riding for exercise, same as me. I wanted granular customization of every PAS level independently to control the amount of assist from the bike vs. how much muscle power I wanted to use, which is why I went with a Ride1Up 700. I'm very satisfied. You can get a 700 for under $1600 net if you...

I am finding it too hot to ride

Most but not all, and it can make a very big difference. Also, the morning temperature just before sunrise may be better for riding if it's an option. For example, Medford, OR shows it got to 115 degrees, but it's only 72 as I post this. I actually prefer it warmer than that for riding. lol...

    LMT'D vs 700

I didn't say anything about 25mph, that was a previous poster, which I explained was using the old PAS system. However, I did hit 25mph on my way to 28mph lol 28mph with throttle only or PAS only or both. The point about 35mph is that at a certain point of speed, I would rather ride a...

Ahhh... ok, I don't have any lights like that or reflective vests.

I am finding it too hot to ride

My Ride1Up 700 has a built-in headlight and taillight, but I added an 800 lumen headlight that I bought off Amazon. It's pretty bright. I also ride mostly on rural low traffic roads.

    Ride1UP Core-5 Reviews

Ride1Up has changed from speed based PAS to current/power based assist since that old review by Court. My current gen 700 will assist to 28 mph with throttle alone or with PAS with a well charged battery. I went with the 700 over the Core-5 because it comes with rack/fenders, a color display...

    LMT'D vs 700

Not that strange. 700's from early last year worked very differently. My 700 will get PAS assist to 28 mph ghost pedaling with a well charged battery, even with throttle, but I've had it up to 35 mph going downhill. If I want to go faster than that, I'll just ride my motorcycle.

I am finding it too hot to ride

I ride for exercise, so when it gets over 100, I just ride late. I ride in the dark plenty.
