    Chain lock discussion wanted

3' of 10mm Pewag security chain secured by a Viro Panzer double shutter lock. If you go to Amsterdam you'll see Viros and security chains all over the place and there's a reason for that. They work.

    GPS - Anti theft devices

I agree - for tracking/defeater type solutions they should be hidden - maybe drop it down the seat tube. Still, the best security is parking where people don't want to steal your bike in the first place while making the prospective job, if attempted, very unappealing to the average bike thief...

    E-Horn?

This looks sweet - especially considering I have the B&M IQ-X E already. The one question I have is the shaded handlebar mount they have in the picture is supporting both the headlight and the horn - is it included? The mount that comes with the IQ-X E is a traditional fork mount. I'd...

    Narrowing down choices. . .

You want a mid-drive - better hill climbing and the rest of the bike is just a normal bike. The Bafang BBSHD is probably your best bet for what you're describing - a very reliable motor and plenty of community/industry support. The quickest way to do this is to get a ready-to-roll conversion...

    Electric Bike Lights

If you got both gender housings then, yes, you'd need the corresponding sockets for the pins.

    Electric Bike Lights

Great find! Just bear in mind that part number is for the housing only (i.e. not the pins). You'll also need: CONN PIN 22-26AWG CRIMP TIN (maybe get 4 or 5 pins so you have extra) Typically you'd use an expensive specialty crimp tool to crimp the pin to the wire but you can probably just do...

    Electric Bike Lights

I'd just use different connectors - a prospective buyer shouldn't care. That's what I did.

    Electric Bike Lights

You need to get a Bafang Headlight Cable or a Yamaha e-bike headlight cable (look to be same connector).

    New Headlight

The specs on those lights are: Voltage: 10-48V Power: 72W At 48V that means the light will draw 1.5A when we run the calculation. The display-switched lighting circuit has a maximum rated current of 100mA @ 48V which means you're over-driving the circuit if you use that. Caveat emptor. Make...

    Upgrade Yukon 750 Light?

I happened to see this post. Looks like the output is rated 36-48V @ 100mA. Plugging those parameters into a power calculator we get a max wattage @ 48V (50V) of 4.8W. So just keep your light under 5W.

    Upgrade Yukon 750 Light?

You should talk to VoltBike and ask them what the headlight output is rated for (volts and maximum amps). I know for Bafang most of the controllers have 6V @ 500mA outputs. If you're saying you're measuring 50V for the headlight then they either have some additional circuity incorporated or...

    Electric Bike Lights

I Have the IQ-X E as well on my Biktrix commuter and no complaints - much better than the stock light. With 150 lux it's 5 times as bright as your old Axa Blueline 30. Are there brighter lights out there ? Yes. Are they necessary? Not unless you're doing downhill with no moon in a...

    Wired-In Ebike Lights Guide

CAUTION! When replacing stock hardwired lights with higher-powered aftermarket options, bear in mind that many of the motor controllers have underrated headlight outputs. Make sure you first check the current rating of your controller's lighting outputs and ensure they can handle the increased...

    Bafang and torque sensing

In my opinion torque sensors are definitely worth it if they are tuned correctly for a given setup. The latest Bafang programming software has a Torque Settings page where these parameters can be adjusted. So, ideally, you'd build the bike and then tune the torque sensor. Also, some bike...

    Bafang and torque sensing

Bafang's OEM Area lists all of their motors and all of their drive systems. The following motors appear to have a torque sensor: MM G510.750/1000.C (a.k.a. "M620", "Ultra", or "Ultra Max") - 750/1,000W mid motor MM G521.500.C (a.k.a. "M600") - 500W mid motor MM G330.350.CCB (a.k.a. "Max") -...

Ultra 1000 stock fat tire rubbing on right chainstay

I would say the evidence points to either your frame being tweaked around the chainstays OR the frame design you have is not designed to accommodate 4" wide fat tires. I'd talk to Roshan and maybe have him ship you a 27.5" wheelset (which handle better anyways IMHO).

    Replacement headlights

I bought mine from Bike-Discount and it arrived in about 2 weeks. The commuter bike space is more advanced in Europe (they've been doing it longer) so some things you just have to order from over there.

Got harrassed on the trail today

Who's the loser when I pull into Trader Joe's after work and load up my panniers with two full bags on the way home? However, riding a road bike after getting used to an e-bike is like riding a child's toy - and it feels as fragile as one too.
