Last follow-up on the fun coastal SoCal's been having with Hurricane Marie — mainly to my north in Orange and Ventura Counties. Excellent footage and high-quality narration by folks who clearly know their meteorology, wave dynamics, and coastal engineering.
You may be unimpressed by the cited wave heights of 5-12 ft. But this is long-period swell, and the combo makes for high wave energies — very little of which had been lost since the swell left Marie days ago.
With waves like this rolling in on higher than normal tides, the energy gets deposited directly into both the beaches themselves and any adjacent seacliffs or structures like seawalls and homes.
The video shows the results. As you watch, note that you can gauge the energy of a wave from the height its water reaches after slamming into a vertical barrier like a seawall or cliff.

Watched a vid from Laguna beach, its gone, nothing but rocks.
Its been an extremely low hurricane year, something had to appear, in fact there have been zero hurricanes till these.

Cutejitzu is the ancient art of exploiting cuteness for personal gain. Most kids and dogs are 11th degree black belts from birth, and Roxie's no exception. It's why I coughed up for the vet without thinking twice.

Great tune with a driving groove I'll be testing for my synchronous pedaling to music playlist.
At 150 bpm, it won't sync well with my normal cadences (80-100 rpm, 90 rpm preferred). But my knees will be OK with light pedaling at 75 rpm, a perfect sync with this song. Just the thing for easy neighborhood laps.

It didn't even take a hurricane to wipe out my childhood home in CT, which was a block back from the beach. Superstorm Sandy along with full moon high tides and an inconsistent dune structure put six feet of water in the house, destroying it. The high winds make the news, but it's the flooding that does the damage. I do not currently live in a flood zone.

I have a theory called the 'Conservation of Cute', wherein things are only exactly a cute as they need to be to get away with all the shenanigans and still survive; the more adorable the more you need to watch out! For me anyway, it mostly applies to women, children, and dogs.

I went to the liquor store on my bike. I bought a bottle of bourbon and put it in the bikes basket. I thought if I fall off the bike the bottle will break. So I drank the bottle right there. It's a good thing I did cause I fell off the bike seven times on the way home.

It is true. They get someone to fill out the application and W-2 info and then hack their lives. After paying them some money $20 and asking for a larger $250 processing fee as the next step. Then they have a CC # and code from the back side.
