Found the best local Japanese restaurant yet tonight, and there was even comedic entertainment! In the booth across the aisle, we had a 20-something couple, clearly in a late stage of wedding planning, and 2 older female relatives.
The bride-to-be was a card-carrying Valley Girl Drama Queen, and her fiance was every bit as loud and aggreived and entitled. They like totally deserved each other.
We learned that the group had
serious wedding-related issues with at least one representative from each of the following categories: Grandmother, mother, father, brother, sister, uncle, niece, nephew, friend, neighbor, and wedding planner.
The missus and I wondered if we'd stumbled onto the set of an 80s sitcom. Over and over, took everything we had not to burst out laughing. (Stuffing 2 California rolls into my mouth at once turned out to be less effective than I'd hoped.)
Yes, it kind of alternated between hilarious and annoying. But in the end, it was a good reminder: No matter how screwed up you might think you are, there's someone out there who can make you look pretty good.
