Just for fun...

All the water pipes underground and in houses are plastic now.

We repiped our house last month with L-class copper to replace the thinner-walled M-class copper used when the house was built ca. 1987. We were offered PEX (plastic) at 25% lower total job cost but declined.

PEX comes in 2 flavors, A and B. The bidder pushing PEX-A said in a dire tone, whatever you do, don't use PEX-B!! You'll never guess what the bidder pushing PEX-B said.

Yes and the way they do it is they munch, get sprayed and run off, then you are left with a fine mist that slowly soaks everything without dripping, the first you know is the ceiling sags and the entire area has turned to mulch.

I installed copper in my friends house rebuild, its a massive job though.

Tip..never do anything for a friend.

Maybe in your young state, but not out here.
Okay, maybe just all of the newer ones. I just watched 12" blue plastic ones going in. They are replaced as streets are repaved. One close by one is going from four car lanes to two, it is getting parking between the cars and the outer bike lanes adjacent to the sidewalks. Parked cars will protect the bikes. And one large four-way intersection is getting a roundabout. It is traffic calming of what was a drag race zone, making the neighborhood nice. Trees are also going in. Look at the safety improvements with a roundabout.

The water mains are all plastic.
most public water mains here are ductile iron, semi private systems are sometimes heavy duty plastic, most service feeds are "cts" HD plastic usually 160-220# pex from the "corp" stop( used to be copper to the meter.) last private community we did was 4" ductile iron mains( a few houses in a hardly accessible ridge community-think the realtor lost his shirt on this one) believe we had to run ductile iron to get the "PSA" to accept it.

I like roundabouts, not so long ago there were only 2 in VA,now they are everywhere.( the "smart" traffic lights are the worst time wasters,in "Salem" VA(a community with pride) the old style traffic lights were timed, you could hit a green and run the speed limit and usually you never had to stop all the way through( very important in a truck) OTH hauling from Charlottesville to Ruckersville VA (30 some odd lights) with our old slow ass trucks,we were habitually running red lights( not intentionally either) despite being photo enforced ,don't think the boss ever received a ticket, must of had something to do with most of our hauling for either UVA or major developers( was a fine day when I got to drop my CDL license) folks just be mindful of trucks they are hard to stop and accelerate and occupy a lot of room, very few 4 wheelers ever challenged the Mack(old town Charlottesville was not truck friendly,we didn't "bully" we did the best we could.
