I rode further afield today (16m) back past the mine and the Mustang Ranch which I have shown before. Just as I got on to my road a neighbors new huge white dog ran to the end of his chain momentarily surprising me. When I looked back three big deer ran across into the brush. So my heart was rolling before my legs were warm. Later as I began to fade on a whim I turned into Bobby Lloyd's farm (pictured) rode to cut off a few miles. Bad idea. Part of the way in the road had been plowed and I spent a mile trying to stay in a tire track. Beautiful weather...which will change soon to a dash of snow.

A nice bonus ride today in very blustery and grey conditions, no photos this time! Only 500ft less elevation gain than my big ride on Sunday and 40 less miles, good to be back on my hilly terrain... The forecast was looking dismal but they got it wrong thankfully, the highlight was my 46.9mph descent down into Glenn Village! I had a few sprinklings of rain but not even enough to wet the roads, hence I got home with a clean bike! The rest of the week is looking a bit wild, 45mph winds tomorrow and 55mph on Thursday so the bike will be staying put...

Every bridleway went right through the properties of beautiful houses

Very well used by horses and immaculately maintained

This path on the right was down their long drive.

Completely flooded though

Some of the best paths I have ridden in this area

Endless smiling, polite faces, old school Britain

Locks on the river weaver, actually strangely modern

The poor horse was in a terrible state, but seemed happy enough, his legs were covered in sores and growths, the farm had keep out and dog warning signs everywhere

Fallen tree, it was pathetic to watch us struggle

Very quaint, but on a busy corner

Cheese and onion toastie

All these local railways were ripped up in the 50s

That is wild that you can ride through private properties!

How long was that ride? it looks like half a day

Bummer about the chain, you need to get that drivetrain sorted!

This is a specific British thing. If there is a "bridleway", it gives the access to the public: walkers, equestrians, cyclists and mobility scooters.
A similar but even more extended public right to camping anywhere you like (but you need to behave yourself!) exists in Sweden.

We wouldn't ride through a private property in Poland but there is as much of the public land as we even don't notice

A you can imagine these paths come under ancient rules that are overlapping and very interpretable, this is mostly for farmers, the bull rules are strangely specific and probably rarely adhered to.

As the owner or occupier of land with a public right of way across it, you must keep the route visible and not obstruct or endanger users.
