I got out, too, although our abundant ice/snow cover was melting prodigiously into boggy mud, mostly on our gravel roads where one just had to be extra careful to remain in the center crown of the road and not venture too close to the deep tire-gripping-speed-slacking muddy shoulders of the roads where one could quickly come to a mired halt even from racing speed.

I managed 8 lovely peaceful miles on our gravel roads in the unexpectedly warm midday, and narrowly escaped being mired in shoulder mud only once. It was the first time any of my bikes had seen the outside of my barn's heated tack room since winter began. It was nice being in the saddle again.

Not an e-Bike ride today. Pushing the fatbike up very rough, step singletrack (rocks and pea gravel, which sees one sliding backwards more than going forward) in temps of 41 °C (according to the Wahoo Ace) is bad enough without trying it on the R&M Supercharger.

A few shots of the more pleasant sections of the Canning Contour Channel. We had to abort in the end as we had to resort to bushbashing on bikes due to the track being so overgrown and blocked by falls, etc. Anyway, we will be back to at least follow the channel by roads and better quality bush tracks.

Started a freezing ride to the rough end of Liverpool.
BALT1.jpg

This described the day perfectly
BALT2.jpg

This used to be covered in Black lives Matter graffiti ,quite poetic from the port that ran the slayve trade.
BALT3.jpg

The trendy place to be these days
BALT4.jpg

Constantly under reconstruction, but absolutely banging at the weekend, the trouble they went to building a brewery
BALT5.jpg

Compare to modern construction, just beyond dreary.
BALT6.jpg

All this area was flattened in the war.
BALT7.jpg

Now I'm in Toxteth ,immigrant central, this beautiful chapel in the middle of one of the most famous british race riot areas.
BALT8.jpg

Very poor areas with random decadence plonked in every few hundred yards
BALT9.jpg

This is Liverpools sprawling millionaires sector, the money long gone and everything converted to flats.
BALT10.jpg

It is beginning to re gentrify, but theres a long way to go.
BALT11.jpg

Just street after street of decaying grandeur, filled with students and hippies 😂
BALT12.jpg

Of course it depends on your viewpoint, the original residents probably made their wad from the slave trade, but Liverpool is a poster boy for what happens when
the money moves away, they were built to last and that has kept them like monoliths to the sands of time.
BALT13.jpg

At the end of this row, the yard is full of car parts and the rear gardens completely overgrown.
It suddenly monsooned on me, but I'll be back tomorrow to take in more of it,
