Quality Charger

Those are some great words man. I appreciate it.

Also - can you please send me your motor serial number when you get a chance ? If you are not able to figure out the issue, I am happy to replace the motor.

Thanks Pushkar but I'm sure I can work it out, I have too many bikes to store at home I rent a storage space for my bikes.......and my wife thinks I only have one. I'll get the serial number when I go to my storage, it's only five minutes away, the town I live in nothing is over five minutes away.😁

You are an evil genius. 😂

The Grin charger is programmable. You can create a many charging profiles as you need ..
My bikes ship with 3 profiles for a 52V battery pack as default
1. Charge at 4A till SOC 85% <-- this is what most everyone will use for overnight charging.
2. Charge at 4A till SOC 100% <-- if you are going for an extra long ride.
3. Supercharge at 7A till SOC 100% <-- long ride and are in a rush.

For my personal charger, I have added the following additional profiles on the same charger
1. Battery pack is rated at 36V - 4A till SOC 100%
2. Battery pack is rated at 48V, 4A till SOC 85%

Satiator is definitely pricey but you can really configure multiple profiles on it simultaneously.
Is the charger customized to the battery or does it come with adapters? I have a few bikes that use a 2.5 barrel that I'd use this on once the new UCP ships

You order the adapters you need. The base Staiator does not include the appropriate connector for your battery.
XLR to DC Barrel Plug Adapter with TRS Cable for Satiator PC Connection. Fits 5.5 x 2.5mm and 5.5 x 2.1mm DC Jacks Popular with Lower Capacity Batteries

Just to provide a personal update:
• I bought two bikes from Luna (Apollos, in mid 2019 and early 2020), and they each came with Luna's charger
• The mid-2019 charger died (wouldn't power on) in Sept 2020. Out of warranty, but Luna gave me a coupon for a new one at $50.
• Grin had a 25% off sale in late 2021, so I bought a Satiator. Still over $300 total. And had to buy an adapter for the Rosenburger connector.
• In 2023 or so my early 2021 Luna charger decided it should always charge to 100% despite the setting. So, pulled out the other, older charger (we have 2 bikes) to use.
• Earlier this year, the remaining Luna charger also decided it should always charge to 100% despite the setting.
• Bought another Satiator a few months ago via Amazon for $344. These are the 72V jobs, btw. Now running two Satiators on our two bikes, with custom programming for 80%, 90%, 97% and 100% - each at three amperage levels (1, 3, 5). Our Apollo batteries are 1.1kwh in capacity, so they take high current just fine. Might even be ok with the 8 amp level, but don't need that.

It's too bad there isn't something between the $100 Luna and $345 Grin chargers.

$10 DIY Smart Charger Alternative / Updated_Ver 3.0 @<$30

Been using some version of this since 2020 with a pair of 2a, a 4a and 5a charger without issue. Charge to any SoC desired. I mostly use the 2a charger as I have plenty of charge time between daily rides. I've yet to have a charger fail.
I typically charge my 48V/21Ah to 51V as it's more than enough for my typical 25mi ride.. even if I extend it to +40mi on a froggy day.
Lately I've had to charge my 48V/10Ah to a slightly higher 52V to comfortably get my 25mi ride in as the Sanyo GA cells hate the cold. The Samsung 35E cells seem to be a little better with low temps. But I do appreciate the lower weight of the smaller battery when handling the bike, especially in the winter.
