Rear Wheel Removal Tip

We are talking diameter not length lol I did inflate the tube inside the tire to check diameter and appears to be 3 in not 4.
Get your head out of the gutter ;)
I took the tires and tubes to Goodwill this morning. Cleaning things up around house and cleaned and lubricated the chain and checked spoke tightness.
Actually it's the tire width measured sidewall to sidewall... or I like to say....girth 🙃
Why didn't you just try them? They may have been ok once mounted.

Because the sidewall on one side buckled and I spent 2 hours just trying to get it half way on and when I put the original back on I was so frustrated the tube was still inside the original and partially inflated I put it on that way without taking the tube out and totally deflating it and in spite of that it went on and inflated in less than 20 minutes. I couldn’t believe it. After that I did not want anything to do with those tires. Just like my wife said when you look at it doesn’t look 4” wide. When I physically pulled it to 4” in the opening there was not much sidewall left and the top of the black part in the center had brown sidewall on either side like that was part of the tread. It was weird and frankly I was just happy to be back. When I thought of how hard that was for the front with nothing to show for it I wasn’t inspired to tackle the back.

We live... and we learn. And you have a good attitude about just moving on about it 👍
Not sure where all the positive reviews on that tire are from. I'd guess from those that don't know any better. Or maybe you got one that slipped passed QC, if that's even a thing.
Me personally I'd stay away from generic tires from unknown brand names.

Yes, I have the same questions as you have, was this one that slipped by and do not understand all the good reviews. The guy had to have known as he folded them like he did and bind the two ends with plastic wire ties. If not then I have no explanation. I do not understand all the 5 star reviews. Were they paid or what? Yeah, I am past all this and will not order from them ever again.

I do not understand these Tube sizings. Can anyone explain them to me please?

Amazing! Tire industry say’s“ Let’s see how many ways can we confuse the customer”. Many of us are simpletons, just put out one standard and stick by it.

For job security as with the telecom industry, people in the bike industry make it as complex and confusing as we can. I need to install almost 15 feet of chain as the final step in the quad conversion. Chain loops around pulleys and cogs in the most convoluted way. I am not going to have to remember that. I am just attaching the new chain to the old chain and pulling it through.

When I go to their site I find it but it will only allow me to select Presta 48mm valve. All the others are grayed out. Maybe they are just out of stock. Thank you for showing me this.

Yes if you click on my link it now states Sold Out. It was in stock this morning as I was curious and added it to my cart to see the total price.
Looks like a case of.. You snooze, you lose. But they are running a big sale + added coupons
Maybe call them and ask. Or perhaps they will back order for you.

Not needing them at the moment but when I do decide to replace my tires I will check. Also, when out riding yesterday at times I had to go off pavement and it was nice to know I had good traction. I will have to really consider this in the future. Maybe there is a good middle of the ground tire tread. I am not “smart enough” to know why but since increasing the tire pressure the stock tires are not as noisy and better handling.

That Kenda tire has knobs on the tread sides so it will be fine for hard packed earth. Where you'll need to use caution is mud and loose earth.
The Kenda Kwick-Drumlin that's not available in your size was the tire I used in the past that was more of a jack of all trades.
You can compare tread to get an idea.

Yeah, do my best to stay away from mud. I also don’t ride on rainy days.

Just to add to the confusion, a 700c wheel is 622. It can be a 27, 28, or a 29'er depending if it has a 28, 33, or 50mm tire. 50mm is about two inches. 700c is 27.56 inches. 650b is 27.5. Most gravel tires are 650b. Most road bikes are 700c. Most mountain bikes are 29'ers unless they have a mullet.

I took a rotten 28" bicycle tire from an old CCM bicycle to a bike shop to get a replacement.
The bike was similar to this ad I found,..

The guy went into the back and found a tire with the Exact Same measurements printed on it, laid it on top of my old tire, and it was noticeably larger by over ½" bead to bead across the diameter.

It makes no sense??
Yeah sure, Canada switched to the metric system in the late 70's, but an inch is an inch whether you measure it in Canada, the US, or in England.

The Schwalbe website works pretty good, and will convert the sizing for you.

This is a link to my specific tires, but Schwalbe doesn't make a 26" X 4" tires. (They make a 20" version though.)

My tires shipped from England, and they had Euro sizing on them.
I used the Schwalbe converter to make sure that I had 27.5" tires.
