Must carry tools: what are yours?

I go first... a medium and small adjustable wrench ...a.buncha Allen wrenches. And since 'never was the last time I was close to a gas station when I needed air in a tire, I got this small pump off Amazon that is magic compared to those old long things with handle at the top that you pumped up/dn. This Astro AI pump is like magic in a small box for this old geezer. It even charges off my Mac, but does not seem to need it much, even after use. I keep playing with air pressure in my Lectric Trike... 30psi is 'today's number. Expansion joints, and the typical state of side streets often makes for a jarring ride.

on a ride less than 40 miles or so i don’t carry anything.

40+, i carry a wolf tooth multitool, which has hex bits and a chain tool, a dynaplug capsule, and a mini electric inflator. a bigger problem than that and its a train or uber home!

in the pre-tubeless days, which were thankfully very, very brief in this era, i took this set of stuff

I have a couple of multi-tools. If I haven;t misplaced them, I will put one on the bag for a ride. Most of my ebikes have a handlebar bag. I also have a patch kit with inflator plus two CO2 cartridges in one of the bikes. Ob a longer ride, away from home base, might carry that too,

I just ordered a $13.99 cordless inflator from amazon, Gotta be cheap. but let;s see if it will work on a bike.

I still have Wolftooth Encase tools in my handlebars, I suppose. So I could tighten a loose fastener. A Topeak micro torque limiter bit as well so I don't crack any carbon.

I don't bother with any inflation equipment anymore since switching to Vittoria Air Liner inserts, though. I just ride home on the insert.

I used to get all carried away with preparedness.
Now I just carry a Leatherman multi-tool, a bicycle multi-tool and a 5' length of plastic coated gardening wire.

And a $50 bill in my wallet to pay for a ride home.

@Wetstuff, see the thread, Show Us A Tool. It has some more ideas than what to carry on a bike. All I really need is a quick check before a ride. I have tube sealant installed, so I normally do not need to carry tools. Being prepared is more important from my point of view. Maybe a stretch off topic; forgive me, a guy didn't lock his battery and it wiped his programing when he hit a bump. I reset the programing, but that is the kind of thing that needs to be checked before a ridden.

And it is only $520 with the cigar cutter, which every six-year-old needs. Along with a corkscrew. It weighs a kilo and can't lever a tire. 'Is that a multi-tool in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?' It the excuse I employed in middle school in front of cute girls. Oh, I have a Swiss Multi-tool in my pocket. One said that I have another set of lips that need some kissing, and I was oblivious and didn't get it. She was as a tall blond from Germany. We would kiss in the hay loft of a barn. How dumb can one be? She wanted her other lips kissed. I just didn't get it.

It depends on where I'm riding.
I always carry my phone with AAA and Uber apps as well as cash. Credit cards aren't always accepted.
For remote area rides, I carry quite a few of the items listed above. I also carry a Garmin Inreach satellite communicator that has true global coverage.

I aways take my cell phone, wallet, and water when riding. I carry in my top section of my Topeak MTX rack bag (leave side panniers folded up until needed):
- two small bottles of Stans tire sealant
- one spare 26X4 inner tube (taking a chance because never ever had a double flat)
- tools to remove wheel and replace the tube
- electric air pump
- Velcro straps (hold tire in place to seat correctly when adding air)
- add rechargeable flashlight when riding at night
- Topeak multi-tool for minor adjustments on the road
- zip ties with mini wire cutter
- mini hand pump for air forks and RockShox deluxe rear suspension
- spare waxed chain, extra link connectors, and chain tools
- two mini handlebar tripod jacks stands and vinyl cover for saddle if I need to flip the ebike over to work on in the field
- rubber gloves and folded up paper towels

Im buying the inreach for the Scotland trips, 7 quid a month for messages at 10p a go.

I never carry water for rides or runs less than an hour, but I am probably carrying too many tools. I will have to rethink and minimize it. I used to travel a lot more for work and it took some effort to get everything I need into one carryon suitcase (and my laptop backpack). Now I can go on any length of trip with just a carryon and just do laundry every weekend.
