Winter Sucks

It's been an incredible winter for eBikes and eTrans builds. I've only missed the days I was in poor health. The first ride in 6" of snow and blizzard was a real adventure.
First year that i can remember in 30+ years that 4" of snow is the most at one time (so far) in 23/24 winter season here in Mpls. First winter that my LT has ventured to McDs in frigid weather. Only 5-10 minute ride then take battery inside to warmup before heading back.

Good News to hear that you are again up and about on your custom etrike ... Enjoy the New Year!

Winona is called, tongue in cheek, the tropical corner of Minnesnowta. We're like one or two degree days warmer than Mpls. This year is unlike any of my 72 years of living in or traveling to Minnesnowta! When we decided to retire here we watched the weather reports daily and there were occasional 50F days, but this year beats them all. No snow cover here at all! NADA! Weird!

Winona ... in the "banana belt" of Minnesnowta.

Here in the "far" north east we've got very little snow cover (less than a foot). Right now it's cold (well below freezing plus the wind) but the next few prospects for moisture are coming as rain ... in February! It is indeed a strange winter.

In this corner of the Pacific Northwest it's been a mild winter. Most moisture is going to California. Our problem is a deficit of mountain snow, and that is our source of water and power. If things don't turn around soon it will be a difficult summer.

More atmospheric rivers right now. All this rain has been very bad for the bike business with shops consolidating and closing. I have eight eBikes in stock to sell and one analog. I will be getting a ton more analogs over the next two weeks as a shop that owes me a bunch of money is closing. I can't wait to put Winter to bed.

This is from today. It is a quince bush by our tidal river.

From that Feb. 19, 2024 post. I sold all those bikes. The last one was at Christmas this year. It was a small gravel bike. I sold it at half price and did a DM02 conversion. She wanted a more upright position than a dropbar with tons of hand positions, and wanted a more comfortable saddle. It now lives in San Francisco. She does rough roads and gravel in western Marin when she visits her sister in Petaluma, CA. She wrote a great review on Google Maps for PedalUma eBikes. Her name is Jane if you want to see her review. Note: The date stamp in the photo is wrong. It was a Christmas gift to herself. Look at all those hand positions over a long ride with hills and flats.

I happened to drive past the trailhead parking area of a local trail a few days ago and noticed it had been plowed. I was encouraged since the temp was in the mid 30's with a light wind so I went home and got the bike. I unload and was installing my gear when I noticed that only a hundred feet of the trail had been plowed to access a trash barrel.
Bummer!

Total waste of time.

minus 10,5 Celsius here this morning at least ground is bare and the wind stopped, hopefully no colder this year ( my heating plant is down and I am tired of cutting firewood, now it has actually gotten much colder here on occasion during a clipper event, brother said minus 30 fahrenheit here at the ridges and I seen-17 f at my residence in the Shenandoah valley( my water froze at my 2nd residence and flooded my trailer when it warmed up,actually the Qest pipe contracted so much due to a missing retainer the pie blew apart. Winter can leave, this supposed to be the south.

Much bigger bummer than mine!

Everyone is constantly ill, all my mates are down with the flu again!
This is just getting hilarious, I was the one who was going to die because I didnt take the vaccine, even though I caught it and recovered in two days, which kinda made taking a vaccine completely pointless.

Now Im just surrounded by bed ridden people, it is so bad our local was empty last night, even half the staff called in sick.

The pub bar flys were going on a cruise, they are all knocked for six and might have to cancel.

Im not suggesting the vaccine, many of the coughing brigade were proper anti vaxxers.

Im going to start a bar study, whos always ill and who seems to be strangely immune and corelate it to beer choices, then claim causation and promote Charges magic elixer of life and stupendous bronchial health beer.

Its almost like covid has seperated the populace into eternal ill and resistant.
And the ones suffering the most are far fitter and healthier than me, its very strange, this is the longest period in my life that I have gone without even a sniffle.
Something very odd going on.

Six of us went on a 14 day Alaska land / sea cruise last may. Travel agent advised it was safe since the flu season was over. All six of us came home with confirmed cases of Covid. Five, including myself, had been vaccinated and just had mild symptoms. the sixth member of our party wasn't vaccinated and was hospitalized for 3 weeks.

Probably just a coincidence but vax effectiveness can vary greatly among the general public.
