We had them in the past on a few models. Boost levers we called them, so you would have 10 or 15 seconds max support to either overtake another rider on a hill, use it for hillstarts of fly off at the trafic lights. Current top 3 systems in the EU do not support those.

The Amflow MTB has a boost mode, from 750 to 1000 watts for up to 30 seconds. This is a current model.
 
I know, this type of lever works a bit different, it takes over the torque sensor input so you actually have a "throttle" for a few seconds
 
True, but the regulations they force to be enacted will remain.
Exactly. They will leave a legacy we're not going to want. So the best plan by far is to find a reasonable way to deal with them now.

Not a perfect way, just reasonable, with ALL stakeholders heard and considered.
