I saw that segment too, and I pretty much agree with your take. A lot of those e-bike accidents seem to be a mix of riders going too fast and drivers not paying enough attention. In the clips they showed, it really did look like the cars pulled out without checking properly — classic case of not expecting a bike to be moving that quickly.

I do think e-bikes that go over 20 mph start to blur the line between bicycle and motor vehicle, so some kind of limit or better education for youngd riders would help. But yeah, in those accidents, it didn’t seem fair to pin all the blame on the kids when the drivers clearly didn’t yield.
when in question always blame the weaker or poorer,I got a ticket one time for a dumbass sitting in the hammer lane ,she said a truck cut her off.i guess the suburban stalled and wouldn't respond to the input of the right foot( or was it a case of "buffy, that inconsiderate truck driver cut me off a few seconds ago" or wait till I get a picture of this( I had already reduced speed by 10 mph or so-moral of the story-dont dwell in the left and leave the cellphone alone while driving) the bad thing was the woman in the little car that had her backside caught the burnt of the old 4 Dr company pickup with poor brakes hitting her from behind,I imagine she lost her ride,I never drove that company junk again) remember when the state police come someone is going to get ticketed and not always the perp.
