I rode some distance today, maybe 14 miles? I rode by a friends house and saw them walking in and said hi. It ended up they were in a hurry his daughter in law had a car that wouldn’t start. The next thing I know they are driving me home to get my battery load tester and were at her dentist office trying to get her car started. The battery was good but no start, so back to his house, back on my bike and ride home. I forgot to pause Strava so if got this weird map half of which was in a car. Strava said it detected a problem and some of my ride might have been in a vehicle. You think maybe the 60 mph speed was the tip off?

Strava sent a message its AI Themis was actively detecting cheating. I know it works for them.

For instance, an ebike ride declared as "Ride" is now being detected by Themis. I got several my rides (wrongly declared earlier) flagged!

I rode a little over 13 miles this morning. A picture of a solar farm that was recently completed and the road in front of it. The picture shows what is probably less than 10% of the panels. This time of the year the solar farm is surrounded by 8 foot high corn. Also a train that went past me.

Did a ride yesterday, Morecambe to Arnside while trying to keep on the actual 'beach' paths as much as possible.
Those mountains are the Lake Disctrict

ARN1.jpg

Eric Morecambe was an iconic entertainer with his semi straight man Ernie Wise, they owned british TV for a decade in the 70s and somehow got away with a recurring sketch
of them sharing a flat and sleeping in the same bed without a peep of complaint from from even ultra conservatives

ARN2.jpg

If in doubt just go for it became the policy, much to the amusement of locals
ARN4.jpg

Rather desolate and windswept parts of England, mostly left to its own devices.
ARN5.jpg

The paths are un marked and made by hardy adventurers
ARN6.jpg

Sometimes we just had to retreat to the main roads, only to be met by endless quaintery
ARN7.jpg

An old copper smelting kiln, the attached farmhouse was called Dyke house, jokes were made about the juxtaposition of the two features.
ARN8.jpg

Riding up that required perfect hop timing
ARN9.jpg

A place forgotten by time and an old lady tending the garden who was probably born in the house
ARN11.jpg

With all this hate coming from Sunny Europe against Brits on holiday, I'm wondering if these places will be reborn.
ARN12.jpg

Sometimes the sand and mud flats feel like an imposing landscape of doom watching you.
ARN13.jpg

Dan recognised this area as the site of the dreadful drownings of chinese migrant workers picking shellfish on the flats, it was a national tragedy as they were trapped in the mud in the dark
and were phoning home last words to relatives as the sea took them, locals took every type of boat out after hearing their cries, but it was too late.

We were discussing it and turned around to see the Chinese woman taking photographs

ARN14.jpg

Chain popped off from a standing start, that's another knee gone
ARN15.jpg

Arnside, I was hoping the bridge had a cycle path, it didn't, but then we realised we could have just put the bikes on for one stop as its miles down stream till a bridge
ARN16.jpg

Back in the Shire
ARN18.jpg

We rode down the canal back to Morecambe, Dan scooted ahead cos his bike does 20mph, problem is only I knew the route, he ended up stuck under the motorway and I had to wait twenty minutes for him to get back to the van

I did 13 miles today. Nearly perfect weather. We had been having hot days with humidity off the charts so we had heat index’s up to 115. Today was in the 70’s with lower humidity. Big fluffy clouds also. This particular road is normally paved but they tilled it up so it was like gravel. I only had to ride about 2 miles on it though.

Today was one of those rare perfect cycling days that only come along once in a while, a still morning and a pleasant 14C! I made my way to the cycle path at Plains to avoid the morning traffic and passed Hillend loch which was looking very low again after the recent dry spell!

1755800680228.jpeg

I then headed up the back road to Limerigg!

The Black Loch was at normal levels and is less than a mile from Hillend!

1755800792778.jpeg

I then made my way towards Avonbridge, passing these beautiful horses along the way!

I turned off before Avonbridge to head up the big climb to Shieldhill, then down the amazing descent into Glenn Village! I was just about to head down the descent when a tractor with a big load of hay was making its way up, followed by another!

I waited for a couple of minutes to make sure there wasn't another one and then shot down the descent with a huge grin on my face, its so much fun! :D From Glenn Village I made my way into Falkirk and took the back road down to Bonnybridge, where I passed over the canal!

1755801888244.jpeg

From Bonnybridge I made my way to Denny and tackled the big climb through Stoneywood and Fankerton into the Carron Valley, passing over the River Carron!

1755802038839.jpeg

At Carron Bridge I stopped at the dam for a couple of photos!

All the way along the valley I had to keep stopping for photos, the reflections were just incredible today with the calm conditions!

My personal favourite!

1755802441124.jpeg

The road is just amazing also!

1755802476276.jpeg

Almost at the end of the valley road now and soon I would be taking on the big climb over the Campsie Hills, the road can be seen in the background here!

1755802588184.jpeg

It was still calm all the way up the climb, its not often you get no wind up here and it was just amazing all the way up! Then it was time for the descent down into Lennoxtown, it was incredible all the way down! From Lennoxtown I made my to Kirkintilloch and stopped for this photo of the Campsies!

1755802946621.jpeg

I was glad to get through the traffic in Kirkintilloch and get back on the quiet roads again on the road to Twechar, alongside the canal!

1755803082179.jpeg

I passed over the canal at Twechar!

1755803151475.jpeg

I started up the climb through the village to find the road closed, luckily there was a narrow footpath that was clear of pedestrians and I made it through safely and rejoined the road again! I was now on the road to Cumbernauld and I made a wrong turn somehwere and got a little lost! 😂 Eventually I decided to backtrack and found a familiar road and was soon back on track, heading towards Lenziemill and making my way up the climb into Greengairs and over the back roads to home! It was so good to get out without a howling wind for a nice change, what a fantastic day it was! 😁

You'll always find a proper craft beer pub in an English city 😁

@Chargeride: getting a Continental Breakfast in an English B&B is an insult, innit 😃

P.S. I'm totally happy about my current stay in England. Everything is so easy, and the weather is splendid!
Insult? they might as well slapped you in the face, maybe you come across sophisticated
