Tyre Sizes

I am very confused with tyre sizes.

My SD has 27.5 x 2.40 (62x584) Super moto x tyres. Schwalbe make so many tyres, but, very few in that size. However, can I change tyre sizes on my wheels. I obviously have to stick with the 27.5 element, but, can I go higher and/or lower than the 2.40? My wheels are 35x584, so, how does that relate to the tyres being 62x584. Madness, I just cannot get my head around it at all.

So, what is the min and max tyres I can have on my wheels?

But it's only a guide eg. i have 40mm rims (40-584) and have had 57-584 Schwalbe Marathon Plus MTB's on for ages and they've been fine, even tried a Schwalbe Marathon Mondial 50-584 for a while and that seemed ok too, also 65-584 Smart Sam's ok.

The Superdelite can take up to a 2.4" with fenders and a 2.8" without fenders.

Thanks guys. I am trying to go tubeless, but, there is very little choice in the city/tour tyre to have.
