SCHWALBE MARATHON PLUS TYRES

Thinking of swopping out my super chargers moto x and fitting Schwalbe Marathon E- plus Tour 27.5 60.584 tyres with Schwalbe air plus inner tubes to cope with a more rugged trail/ long distance tour I have planned , my moto x plus fitted Tanus inserts have been excellent on road, gravel trails , but handling not to good on rough and at times wet trails , any thoughts folks !

We have been running Marathon plus 559 for years on our travelbikes, proven to be the most bombproof and have been grippy enough for long traveling with loaded touring bikes.

The Marathon Plus has been my number one choice of bicycle tires tires for the last 2 years.

In tread pattern and specs, the Marathon E-Plus resembles the 2.3" Specialized Crossroads Armadillos on my commuter, but with slightly lower side lugs. This hybrid tread pattern has worked very well on many different surfaces.

But the center treads are starting to wear, and rolling resistance with Tannus liners could be better. Maybe I'll try the Marathons without liners next.

I have used Marathon Plus (and lately ePlus) for over ten years. Wouldn't dream of anything else.
I retire them long before wearing out at about 10,000 miles but absolutely believe it is a 15K to 20K mile tire.
In 50,000 mi I have had 4 flats in all city riding.
In that time I've picked hundreds of items out of the tire that would doom another to a flat.
I run 1.75" at 52 PSI which I find ideal for (absolute minimum) rolling resistance and avoidance of city related obsticals.

+1 on the Marathon+

I've had great results while using them for trail riding on all my bikes since 2018. The center tread does tend to wear after 1K miles or so, but it doesn't affect traction in gravel and actually makes them quieter on pavement.
