The Ruby Mountains in Northern Nevada are beautiful, headwaters of the Humbolt River.

Not the "A River Runs Through It" river, but good for some fishing near its headwaters. It flows generally east to west terminating in the Humboldt Sink ~225 miles from its headwaters. One of the few western rivers that does not reach an ocean. It is a part of the Humboldt Wildlife Management Area.

I'm not sure why the name is familiar since I've never been there, but it is. Maybe I saw it in the travel books I got to plan a trip out your way this summer. BC( Before Covid), That was the reason for the van and the bikes.

Fallen trees on electrical lines, Lightening strikes, careless campers, climate change, whatever your favorite cause of these fires.
we are at war here in the west & fighting for our lives. Never have we faced anything remotely close the the immense scale of
this disaster. It is very hard for me to regard this as just so many random coincidences, & I am mad as hell!
 
Visibility 1/4 mile, the house is sealed save for a cracked window to allow a bit of oxygen. This is a siege & suffocating.
No flames nearby, but that doesn´t really matter. Leadership would muster every resource to fight if we had any.
