Honestly, I was wondering the same thing. You could kind of see it coming. Why was he riding with his feet off to the side? Or is that how you are supposed to control a fat tire banana bike riding down a dirt road?
That’s the point! Watch out for the eBike army. LOL!I'll never understand fat knobby tires on pavement. Sounds like a military convoy.
Wow. Where do you live?A bunch of those bikes would have to be licensed and insured here. They are scooters.
Pseudo-ebikes with pedals that are for all intent, decoration, are occasionally nabbed here for being just that.
They rarely enforce helmet laws here so I'm not surprised they rarely bother with scooters posing as e-bikes.
They're all over the place. CN
"It's America"....land of the free. That said, ebikes are still not universally appreciated and the wary, cynical, and NIMBY folks are assessing the feasability of unregulated allowance of ebikes. Be an ambassador. What I saw in the video was a swarm of riders, some of whom were pedaling (actually or pretend) while a fair # seemed to be throttle only. Legal yes, good image.....no! Additionally the group was swarming side to side down the street.....nothing irritates vehicle drivers more than bikers riding abreast across a road. However, the thing that most jumped out at me was the pack seeming to BLAZE thru not just one but TWO stop signs. I'm under the impression that by default ALL vehicles must come to a full stop at a stop sign. Several states (6?), including the one I reside in (WA) have recently modified that position to allow bicyclists to "yield" rather than come to a full, compliant stop. Yield is somewhat objective but conjures up a cautious rollup......not what I saw in the video. The state specifically states ".......requires people on bicycles to slow down to a reasonable speed that would allow them to stop if necessary". Be ambassadors!!!
Yes, someone was ahead of everyone monitoring traffic and waiving them through. I respect your opinion but I don’t think anyone was being careless or disrespectful.Hard to say from the narrow(?) feild of view of the camera vs. one's actual field of vision. At the first stop sign there was a car on the other side of the road heading the other direction and one car stopped and not turning in their direction. I probably would have slowed down. I didn't see any traffic at the second stop sign and it looked like there might have been someone monitoring traffic and waving them thru, not sure. Again, might judge it differently based on actual field of view. But I agree, not how I would promote a group ride.
Well, maybe that guy who fell down was a little.I don’t think anyone was being careless
Oh man. Lol.Well, maybe that guy who fell down was a little.
Actually NO! Not compliant with even the very loose state regulations, 750W 20MPH with pedals, in many states. Impressive use of helmets though!Legal yes,
Not in CT. All of these bikes are legal in CT.Actually NO! Not compliant with even the very loose state regulations, 750W 20MPH with pedals, in many states. Impressive use of helmets though!
So CT circumvents Federal DOT standards? That’s odd.
Don't Class 3 ebikes have to have pedals, that have to be functional? Several of those in the video didn't even appear to have pedals at all. They ARE mopeds, which are NOT ebikes.Class 3 eBike. Or you could say it was a moped since they don’t need to be registered in CT under a certain hp.
