XM700+ handlebar

Hello- New to the forum and new to ebikes.

I just picked up a new Trek XM700+ from my LBS. After much research here, I figured this was the one that ticked the most boxes for me. We are still in the getting acquainted phase. I already put a nice Brooks Flyer saddle on it. My next upgrade will be the handlebars.

I find the stock bars have too much pullback for me. The Xm700+ is the only Trek model with these bars.

Has anyone swapped out their bars on this bike? If so, what did you put on it?

It's funny, since most of my ebikes had MTB handle bars originally and I had to replace all of them with the more comfortable handlebar, just like that of the XM700+.

I don't have a Trek, but I recently installed Origin8 Strongbow handlebars on my bike, to give me more hand positions. It also adds room for other cockpit accessories. It works great for my purposes.

You can observe by riding and letting your hands fall naturally and comfortably at the handlebar and note where it lands in relation the existing grip. and then you can either get an MTB handle bar that matches where your hands fell or you can get a longer stem to move your handlebar forward, just enough where your hands fall naturally.

Yes, all good advice. The stem is not the problem. My hands do not fit naturally to the stock bars. I have been to all my local shops looking for bars. Unfortunately, nothing that I like in stock so I will have to order something with less pull back. A handlebar is such a big part of the comfort equation. Without being able to try one in my hands, I'm looking for suggestions what others have used and worked for them.

It's funny. Think I have changed out the bars on just about all my motorcycles and bicycles. I think it's just me.

I'm waiting for one handlebar that I have bought off ebay. It has a 27.5mm rise, 7 deg. pullback, and 720mm long. I hope it works.

You can also look at your existing non electric bike that already has your comfortable fit and then duplicate the geometry from there, in relation to seat height, handlebar height + reach, and hand grip angle

Hello, I'm not familiar with the term 'pullback'. Does that mean the angle of the grips in relationship to a straight handlebar ? Just
curious. I have a Trek XM700+ as well. Thanks

I guess the term "pullback" is mainly used for motorcycle handlebars. Bicycles use the term "backsweep". Yes, basically it is the angle slanting back or away from the front. A beach bar would have a greater backsweep than a straight bar.

Mark, I agree with you as well. I have a Trek Powerfly 7 and I replaced the 'stock' handle bar with this Origin8 bar which is a near match of the sweep from the XM700+ bar (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

Through my LBS, who's an authorized Trek dealer, tried to buy the 'stock' Trek XM 700+ swept back bars, but were told they are no longer available. I have an XM700+ and wanted to my e-mtb bar to match my XM700

OP here...Thanks for all the replies. I ended with a Race Face bar. It has a 25mm rise and 9 degree backsweep. It was originally 720 mm wide, but I have cut it back to 680 mm. So far so good. I have also adde Ergon grips and a Brooks saddle and saddlebag.
