Winners tell jokes, losers say hurry up and deal! As Tom parks his glistening CC and cracks open a Perrier...

@Taylor57 That's pretty good for 1-5 day shipping. Looks like twist throttle but the description says there is thumb throttle... which one?

what can you tell me about their "Hunter" model. currently was told by Frey they only sell the Hunter and FF1 to the US. They referred me to QuietKat for the FAT1000 2.0...

Not sure why you wouldn't order from Frey via Alibaba. You won't have any issues with Frey in terms ordering and getting what you ordered. But you will need to get in line as it's a longer wait due to covid.
Hi there, hope you don't mind my question here but I wanted to ask you about the Luna X1. I believe we both got our CC's in the late '19 group order & you mentioned your X1. I've gotten back into mountain biking and I'm ready to pull the trigger on one. (Or a frey m600) A quick assessment on the X1 would be highly appreciated. And my CC is doing great, i hope you are still enjoying yours. Thank you
Dave

I'm lukewarm on my Luna X1 due to the tuning that Luna did to the M600 motor. It's really jerky and unrefined at low PAS. A lot of folks are getting the BESST tool (now available from Luna) to flash other M600 firmware. I purchased the BESST tool but haven't had a chance to test other firmware. For now I can't recommend the Luna X1 (or M600 in general). That said others seem to like their bikes much better after reprogramming (see reviews):

Hey Tom, Long time no visualize. So, you still patronizing Luna? Any scuttlebutt? I heard a rumor they are coming back in a big way. 😶

I struggle with understanding why anyone overvolts BBSHD motors. The pitfalls will disappoint some. Melted nylon gears are uncommon until a ludicrous, or phaserunner controller are added. Lighteningrods mid was being developed in a Luna version until someone, guess who, took a piss on the developer.

Kyle from Bolton ebikes tells me today in an e-mail that Frey is not building the Raptor bike. He claims they have nothing to do with it. So .... I guess there is a frame maker in China that Frey uses and Bolton used them too? IDK
Dengfu, I believe? Most of the ebikes that look very similar to Frey's, appear to use a frame that looks identical to that sold by Dengfu... but:

The full-suspension frames Frey uses have an extra vertical support connecting the lower & upper sections behind the dual pivot (bikes with no H or anything here freak me out with the amount of lateral flex they allow!). I haven't seen that vertical support on bikes sold anywhere else yet, & Frey said in one post that they've had that vertical redesigned recently, so if they are using Dengfu frames I have to assume they're getting them modified?

The newer AM1000 frames also have a flying buttress added below the top tube, where it meets the seat tube.

I'm still not sure who's using whose or who's just a copy. I expect Dengfu isn't above imitating someone else's frame style, if it suits them!?

I don't care for exclusivity, but attribution is critically important; not just for design itself, but for where vital parts are made, by who! Ratings & material grades are empty promises if a brand's suppliers aren't producing consistent parts, for them!

I'm encouraged by user experiences of Frey covering obvious material failures (in one case even after three years of use!), & am feeling more confident about our purchase, the more I find out.

Hopefully it'll work out great for several of our use cases & we can order some additional bikes from them in the near future.

Incidentally, the new Frey Beast appears to be a limited run of less than 100 units this first year, but Frey was happy to ship an AM1000 to Denver Colorado USA, when I asked in June. Just one unit, but it's been assembled, tested, & sent to overseas shipping (Delivery Duty Paid), quite a bit earlier than the Oct 16th date of their original estimate!
