Which Turbo Vado?

The current Specialized Vado models offered in the States are available through their main web page here;
https://www.specialized.com/us/en/turbo-vado . No Vado 6 is offered. The Vado 6 you've linked to appears to be an archived page, judging by the 'bread crumb' path just under the Specialized name.

The Vado 6 photo shows a display mounted out from the stem. This is the older BLOKS display. The newer TCD-W display is handlebar mounted and is often positioned over the bike's stem. The Bicycle Habitat page does describe the BLOKS display. The BLOKS display is not compatible with the Mission Control app.

Others have reported that upgrading the BLOKS to the TCD-W display may be covered under warranty but recent upgrades have included long delays due to parts availability. This seems to be a regional issue.

Thank you for the follow-up.

MEN'S TURBO VADO 6.0, Gloss Limon/Black/Chrome, Large
Part No. 95018-1104

Is this a 2020 year model, or ?
https://www.specialized.com/us/en/m...868?color=216925-133868&searchText=95018-1104

I see multiple offerings on various sites referencing Red Vado's and
they are $3,787. What year is this? (RED)

I see on many sites the Turbo Vado in Gloss Limon/Black/Chrome for
$5,050. What year is this model? (YELLOW)

I'm considering the newest one, however the availability is very
confusing.

specs show 350 watt rx-tune

Red/$3700 shows 1.3 motor

Yellow shows 1.2 motor

VERY VERY confusing.

WHO (even 2 "dealers" I called were befuddled), WHO is supposed to be the end all of providing the consumer the CORRECT availability, the CORRECT specs and pricing?

"Others" can complain that 'guruuno' is a whiner, ignore him, blah, blah, blah, but if I want to even consider pre-sales info, if I cannot even discuss with a VALID rep who has knowledgeable facts, I'm supposed to rely upon those who ridicule me here because of my insistence to obtain pre-sales info prior to making a purchasing decision?

Where then is ANYONE supposed to get proper, updated, not "stale" or unknown information then, from who, where?

Not to sound like a jerk-off, but Judge Judy chastises those in front of her for not doing their due diligence as in "DID YOU ASK ALL YOUR QUESTIONS FIRST"?

Well, I'm trying, but how and who is the definitive provider of the correct information.

I just want to make a valid, reseached purchasing decision before I wind up pulling the trigger and then find out that I bought something that was wrong, incorrectly identified or non-returnable because of my stupidity by not doing my homework.

I hear you that it can be confusing when other dealers don't archive their older products, or those products come up in a google search. When in doubt check specialized.com for the best info, or message me!

Which model are you looking at? The biggest, baddest one is the 5.0, that's got the 1.3 motor and 600wh battery, sounds like you're after one of those? I've got one personally in a med frame and have a low entry size small on the floor. They're in stock in small, med, large, but sold out of XL.

My LBS is checking for a Large, says he has one but need to contact HIS warehouse Monday. I see 'others' when searching, show inventory. However, the illusion may be that it's the older one not being correctly identified as the 2020.
Just so that I am in my safety boat, do you happen to have a SKU or part # to reference so that I am assured that the "biggest, baddest one is the 5.0, that's got the 1.3 motor and 600wh battery" is the one I have validated?

Yep, no prob! The Vado 5.0 Large is in stock, 100%, I've been getting my freight in about 5 business days or so, 7 at the most. I can get one and get it to you, updated and ready to rock. Let me know.

p/n for the 2020 Vado 5.0 Large is 95020-3004

EU Vado 5.0 on its 75 mile ride.
P.S. I made it! 76.5 miles in 5 hours net ride :) The last miles ridden in Turbo mode (of course, second battery had to be used).

Exactly at the metric century distance at the moment 😇
Have you ever ridden all in Turbo to get an idea what Minimum range with 1 battery would be? I am new Here : IS this Vado with the 500W battery : ???????????

My wife has the 2020 Turbo Vado 5.0 with the TCD-W display, 600W battery, the 1.3 motor and XT/SLX components, purchased In June of 2020 after the Specialized price change From $5,150 to $4,350. It has operated flawlessly since purchase, as has my 2020 Turbo Vado 4.0 purchased in April of 2020. Ordered directly online from Specialized for delivery through Mikes Bikes in Folsom. I am no expert, but from what I have read on the forum, the TCD-W display on the newer models seem to be A worthwhile consideration.
Since you have both teh Vado 4.0 and 5.0 of teh same year : Is there that much of a difference motor wise ? I had My sights set on teh 4.0 last year vs the 5.0 . Because it was $1500 less then the Vado 5. Winter came early and ended up waiting : Now as you have pointed out there's a reduction in the Cost of the Vado 5.0 : Yet you still bought the 4.0 > I'm curious as to why ? Had the price reduction not yet happened ?

The Vado 5 has the 600wh battery. @Stefan Mikes also carries a 2nd 600Wh battery in his pannier on his 'marathon' rides.

Minimum range is going to be subjective based not just on assist level but also riding style and topography. In our very hilly little town I get ~36 miles on an average charge. When I ride steeper routes, which require more assist, I get more like 26 miles. On out of town routes I've ridden 40 miles and still returned with over 50% battery.

The Vado 4 has the 1.2 motor with 75Nm of peak torque; the Vado 5's 1.3 motor peaks at 90Nm. The gearing is also different with Vado4 having a 40t chain ring vs 48t on the Vado 5. This will make hill climbing ability similar, but a bit slower for the Vado 4. They are both Class 3 ebikes, but the Vado 5's larger chain ring will allow it to reach higher top end speeds on a flat run.

Other upgrades in component quality and battery capacity (500Wh vs 600Wh) take a bit of the pain out of the extra $ for the Vado 5, esp at its lower price point.

We've got both 4.0 and 5.0 on the floor, the difference is immediately apparent. Not to throw the 4.0 under the bus, but the 5.0 is noticeably stronger.

@BarryS: In April, 2020 Specialized put the Vado 4.0’s on sale, ~$500 cash discount and an additional ~$500 on a prepaid Visa card, all total about $1,060 off of the then $3,550 retail price, so net price was ~$2,490. The 5.0’s were not on sale at the time, so it was $5,150 (for the 5.0) or $2,490 for the 4.0. Once I got the 4.0 my wife wanted to add another low or mid step. She really wanted the black 5.0 so when they reduced the price to $4,350 we went ahead and bought one. Knowing what I know now, and with the reduced retail price differential, I would definitely opt for the 5.0 for higher 600 watt battery and 90 nm motor. I am heavier than my wife and get about 25 to 30% less range, that’s significant and probably the biggest single reason to get the 5.0. Component group is better too, XT/SLX vs Deore. You can’t go wrong with either the 4.0 or the 5.0, but you won’t regret spending a little more to get the 5.0.

Well.....ordered my 5.0 Vado from Kim's in New Brunswick today.
Wish me luck.
Good luck......did they hazard a guess when you'd get it?
