Which Crank Puller?

All I have at the moment is a Park square taper puller. Which puller do I need for my Performance Line CX ? Would an Octalink puller work?

Just short of ordering a new crank puller, I just watched a You Tube video where you can use your square taper puller in combination with the crank bolt with the plastic collar removed. Worked like a charm! The crank arm pulled right off. This idea was absolutely brilliant!

I have both tools. But have used a sacrificial aluminum spacer on the tip of a square taper puller for octalink.

I thought of doing that at first, but couldn’t find anything perfectly sized, then I saw that video.

There are other videos that show using a perfectly sized nut as a stopper to push the spindle. That would probably be easier..

Ended up with a 2ft extension.

Wait. You can’t insert the tool unless you remove the bolt first.
Edit: I take that back. Actually, you can, over a plain crank bolt.

you can, its an old school with the thread on the spindle.

So it is the kind with a 14mm nut? Not an 8mm hex cap?

yeah, the tool fits around the nut.
Into the thread of the blank.

Okay, then remove the nut with a 14mm socket. Then oil all parts and threads of the puller including the contact tip. Screw in the outer threads all the way. Then screw in the inner threads.
