I think your right. Its a cadence sensor. Sorry about that. But as a low-end hub drive it has yet to fail in any area of performance I have required out of it.

Court’s reviews describe some of the hub motor models like the City Commuter Black Edition and Platinum Interceptor models as having Advanced pedal assist with both cadence and torque sensors. Plus their mid-drive models.

Some 2018 and newer Pedego models have a torque sensor and some do not. My Platinum Interceptor has a combination torque / cadence sensor.
