What is the expected lifespan of the Bosch drive unit?

This is very impressive!
The motors last a long time. One of the few instances where it runs into issues is in very humid conditions, i.e., coastal areas with seawater - this can damage the bearings and lead to rust/corrosion.
In motors equipped with internal belts, timely replacement of belts will help you get high mileage.

I'll weigh in...
4 year (plus two week) old Gazelle Ultimate T10 at 27,000 miles.
Never let it get wet. High cadence riding style.
Garaged in an air conditioned apartment (in Phoenix).

The only drive unit failures for Bosch happened one time on a bike that had really low miles. There was an internal programming issue and Bosch sent a reman DU to replace. Bike was well outside the warranty and it was a Bosch goodwill repair.

Other than that we've seen bikes well into the 10's of thousands of miles with no problems.
