Watt Wagons Ultimate Commuter 2 rides 175 miles now 1075 miles, more than 2 rides

Correct electrical gremlins are with the the BH branded bike, always gets my concern always eventually always works such as this time.

Problem with UC appears to be head tube bearings, I have a flat spot I am told. it appears to be something that they could diagnose with out disassembly . I have contacted Pushkar and was told he would send a replacement to me , I took the bike since the shop was low on space and will return as soon as I receive the parts.. I don’t know what a head set is so I was not asking the best questions at the shop. I gues it is a set of ball bearings , probably round in a round casing and some how I am guessing a set of two although I don’t know they are held in place probably between what ever pulls the handlebar and fork together. I am concerned something else may not be 100% inside and won’t know till they go to replace these bearings.

the problem with rear light was the mounting was not tight enough even though it felt tight, the assembly most likely fell off.,since it was on most likely found by someone else didn’t go back and look.

not sure ,this should be covered by warranty.prob cost as much as the lost light

Just go to Park Tool on you tube and search 'headset'.

Also @opimax, Headsets can loosen especially on a new bike so it is important to keep an eye on them and re adjust them as soon as you feel any looseness. Riding with a loose headset will damage it.
To check your headset before a ride:
Push the front break with one hand and place the other hand on the upper part of the headset assembly and hold it with your fingers together with the head tube of the frame. Try rocking the wheel forwards and backwards, and you must not feel any movement between these two parts. If you feel no movement, everything is fine

Did I read in a previous post that you had an accident with the bike? Could be leftover unseen damage from that if so.

@scrambler I believe there is no play at this time even with the bad bearings, I checked this at earlier times . I put my fingers on the creases at the top and bottom where the pieces come together, no end play and i believe the shop checked that too while diagnosing. My test are not as official but accomplish the same.

Miles are around 1100 give or take a ride I may not remember. My guess this is a defective part , defective install or caused by my fall, don’t really care on this except to get it fixed, my only concern I can quit riding the bh before the “last ride” when ever that is and I have no spare.

My guess was about right for head set it looks like

Tomorrow’s ride will be Bh after taking the van in for maintenance, .Bh better not break tomorrow or it may get left on the side of the trail.

Only manual is contact WattWagons on any media and ask questions. WattWagons is not as big as Bulls yet 😁

My terrain is smooth and pretty flat, asphalt and cement. When I fell it was the same but even flatter. I have not made it to the 2nd shot location yet. The trail itself is like a runway at the airport practically it is so smooth. I am not sure of the bearings themselves yet, they could be needle style, no clue and not sure if I can tell when I see them but will check them out when they arrive.

Either a defect or damaged in the fall, not the norm I would think, Now that it is diagnosed I expect it repaired and be done with it unless there is a surprise when they get in there, hoping for the best

Hmmm, I tend to go through the top 7 or 8 gears when taking off not necessarily in increments of 1. The shifter can do 3 gears in 1 push. Once I get to speed i pedal at 24 in top gear in level 4 and 3 for extended distances or at least tell myself I am doing this, my avg speed would be higher if i kept this for really extended periods. I go through the gears to be sure I am being nice to my tranny for a long and lovely life for both of us :)

I don’t get cruise control here since you have to hold the throttle to continue moving. I can do in the 30s on throttle if in the correct gear. If you are too high a gear you aren’t lugging the engine but the torque is not enough to max speed in max gear. My throttle is limited to 1000 watts (maybe 1100 plus compared to my wife’s gauge) so I can go faster in any power level that delivers more than 1000 which is either 2 or 3 & up.

did I answer this ? I will try again in you rephrase your question

I didn’t notice till now , please stop erasing or quit posting here please . There is personal mail if you don’t want public but the question I answered I would have posted here and responded anyway.

I am all about polite, golden rule, consideration of others, etc

If he doesn’t want to play well with other he is not welcome in “my” thread. If he does fine.

A couple days ago went out with my wife. She was on her UC and I was not :(, waiting for headset. We went for about 40 miles on the trail. All went well she had a bout 1/3 battery left . 2 significant events from this ride. 1st - 2 lightning strikes at the end almost caused me (us) to need to change riding shorts early. We were hurrying to get back , beat the rain but we were at the edge of the front to be so near the strikes.

2nd event was my wonderful wife taking off , laughing at me being for only being able to go 29 while she hit 34 or more down 1 short stretch of the trail, she will be in the 40mph club soon I think

I went out yesterday , got dropped near the state line , 50 miles head start over leaving from home, got to see 15 miles of the AL side of the trails. Only 15 left to ride on the trail that is new to me. If I had my UC I would have enough range to have done it all!

Opimax, what level, when riding the UC, do you ride on?

I've made up my mind to go with the SRAM AXS wireless groupset, but I think I'll keep the throttle. If I don't use it much, and don't like the extra external cable, I can always take it off.
Here's hoping my FS titanium UC is shipped to me sometime in September ( @pushkar ).

2 through 4 depends on my level of energy/effort, battery level left compared to distance left, not too concerned about battery level in general, just be sure I can get home…sometimes higher speeds when storms are approaching. I try to keep it at class 3 speeds while on the local trail I don’t want to get in trouble on the home trail

Yesterday’s ride was still the BH, heard my part was shipping yesterday so soon I will be back on my UC. I did about 80 miles but I had 1 interesting event. Rode 15 miles to 0 on the trail turned around and rode back to my standard bench I use as 1st stop 2 miles from home . Sat down got my phone out to check in with my wife who wasn’t having a great day but before I called, “BAM,” a tire blew out ,scarred the stuff out of me 1.5 feet away. Continued to call my wife to meet .5 miles at the road, only 2 miles or so for her , last time it was just short of 50, she was relieved and also happily distracted from her bad day and got to be the hero and rescue me.

We went to the bike shop, they were able to take me right away. The tech put in a tube started installing the wheel and Bam scarred me again! He then said I probably needed a tire which I ok’d immediately. He had a Michelin with the same tread pattern as the expensive Schwalbe that was just slightly smaller per the numbers on the side, only 25 bucks less than1/2 price. Put on the tire I went outside test rode , rubbing and it was supposed to be smaller. Another tech was free when I went back in, he adj the fender . Rode off and completed another 50 miles. I was very happy I was able to complete the ride after having a flat needing a new tube and tire, thx to both my wife and the bike shop !

Tomorrow’s ride will be on on the Trek Allant 7 +, 1st long ride since it has been repaired. I can ride this unpowered on a few parts and extend the batteries for a longer ride, see if I can do the state line for 103 miles. I ride the Trek slower than the other bikes so I need an early start. I prepped as much as I could tonight so more just a matter of going to bed at a reasonable time

To keep this topic…. I had to move my UC to take the BH out the door, it was fun to move.😩
