The support site has a list of rated approved lights. Note: the Lezyne Power StVZO Pro E115 used on the Vado SL 5.0 is an OEM version with the mounting reversed so you can mount it under the bars and have the light pattern correct. If you want a brighter light use the Lezyne 550, Lupine SL Nano or the Supernova's on the list. The E115 is good light for ocassional night riding.

I checked this today on my bike, and it doesn't look like it is possible to turn the lights off. They're permanently on.

I'll probably opt for the Lenzye Power StVZO Pro E115 Switch headlight @Stefan Mikes suggested above. Reading the manual it appears to have the ability to turn it off. I'll have to double-check that by reading a few reviews. Mind you the "daytime" mode will still be helpful. The only issue is stock in the UK is difficult to find. I found a German bike store with stock but annoyingly they have minimal spend for delivery to the UK - and it means spending twice as much.

You could use a microswitch but a proper IP-rated switch on the handlebars would be the preferred option.

Never guess what I just found living down the street from us: A nicely customized SL 2 LTD!

The maybe 50-something owner uses it to commute ~40 mi round trip to La Jolla everyday, rain or shine. His goal is minimum time (~50 min) in each direction — which means lots of TURBO+sweat the whole way.

The bike was being loaded into the truck for some custom work while his broken shoulder blade mends from a recent non-cycling sports injury. I'm sure he's a much stronger cyclist, but we plan to ride when he's back in the saddle.

He used to live near us in Denver, too!

I do like the paint scheme.

Maybe I'll talk to a local vinyl wrap place to see what they can do in a similar area.

My friend bought a 5.0 SL non EQ the exact silver color as mine and we ride together.

He could have had black or yellow at the time though he hated the yellow, (I loved it), and refused to pay $500 more for the black at the time as it was not discounted.

Ugh.

What i am wondering about can we fit SL1.2 motor on Vado SL 5.0 and eventually battery 520Wh from 6.0.
I really do like my SL 5.0 but i would like more NM and juice in battery.

I think I saw somewhere that the motor mounts are the same. But that doesn't get you very far.

For starters, where are you planning to put the larger SL2 battery? And if you sort all the mountings out, how much of SL1 electrical system are you willing to replace to reach electrical and software compatibility with the SL2 motor and battery?

Seems like a conversion unlikely to succeed at reasonable cost in money, time, and headaches. Unless you're just after the challenge.

The 1.2 motor will fit but you would need the Mastermind TCU from a 1.2. Search the e-MTB forums for Lenovo/Kenevo SL's where people have done it by swapping motor and cranks, TCU and battery from a donor. The 520wH battery will never physically fit in the frame and if you read through the Specialized support page knowledge library some of the wiring is different too.
