I know that is an expensive bike, but I also find it hard to understand it being called a demo bike with 1,500 miles. That is a used bike. That was my thinking for a new battery.
I assume since it was never sold and an employee used it they view it like a car dealer would for a car the manager drives but is never titled. Who knows. I'm betting that while the cosmetic damage was minor they knew no one would slap down 5K or anything close to it for a less than perfect bike so they kept it as a shop bike. Again, I don't know the full back story.
