So something worth noting is that both can be ridden agressively but even if you don't there design is benificial and if you decide to step it up you can no need to change bikes.
Yeah thats the interesting thing about the Trance.. it seems to ride very.. Levo-ish from reviews.. despite having 29er wheels and a huge chainstay.. its kinda odd actually.
It took me a few days to research but I think I figured out what I was looking for in an eMTB:
Strong, Torquey Motor:
Bosch, Brose, SyncDrivePro
Good sized battery with option for extender:
All pretty much have this these days
Solid on the software front:
Specialized far and away the best, Giant seems ok, Trek 2022's seem pretty good
29/27.5 "Mullet" style setup for the wheels:
Very difficult to find this setup outside of the Levo's and Shimano motors
A bike thats good uphill and downhill:
Options Vary but primarily Levos, Rails and the Trance seems great uphill, and just ok downhill due to the weight
It seems that the best options are going to be:
Any Levo, wait for the 2022 Trek Rail's or go with a 2021 Rail, or the Trance and see how 29" wheels feel on my local trails
The issue with the Levos seem to be; On the Levo Alloy for example, by the time you upgrade the forks and rear shock, the price will be at that of a more expensive version but with a cheaper group set.. so the value doesnt seem to be there at that level vs the Trance or other options.. its interesting..
