I mean they can't really throw or drop kick a 70 lb ebike now can they ? (but they might take a brief pit stop to 'water' your shrubs)

and they absolutely LOVE picking those 'super light' Rad power ebike boxes up, and carrying them up your steps for you... i mean it totally MAKES their day.

And the same delivery guy is gonna LOVE YOU when you go to return it, after HE likely damaged it. But no worries. It's all good and fixed and resolved easily in the end.


However, that all said, I suspect it shall not be too terribly long before on-line ebike company's will NEED to pay for something like this where no human delivery person suffers for your impulsiveness or laziness...

Wife has wanted a RING doorbell for eons...got a pay bonus gift card to Lowe's, so we got one. I liked it so well I got two more cameras for the back door and for the driveway. They are just fantastic - best thing ever!
Now we know who steals our lemons, and Saturday evening a dingaling driver backed into my car parked on the street. Plain as day on camera, but too dark to read a license plate. Oh well, dinged it out - paintless dent repair DIY.
The package theft is ridiculous. Don't these idiots realize most residences have security cameras? Did you see the youtube vids on the booby-trapped packages for theft vengeance? Hilarious.

I absolutely love my UPS guy and hate FedEx with a hot passion. My UPS guy actually calls me when I have a package coming. I take care of him every Christmas. When my new ebike lands and Bolton sends it to me I'm having it shipped to the local depot and will pick it up personally from there. Where I will open the box, take pics, and if it is damaged will refuse delivery, file a complaint and call my credit card company.

Funny video but there weren't any/many UPS/FEDEX drivers. I think as long as your bike is shipped with one of them, insured, you have 99.5% nothing to worry about.

I got no doorstep. Main gate of the ranch I work for is a mile and a half from the houses. So my UPS guy calls me. If I absolutely must get a package from FudEx I have them leave it at a local business that is very accommodating for us remote folks who trade with them. If my UPS guy is jammed he calls me and I let him leave the package there as well.

Busted stuff is the new reality. The amazon gal came by when I was outside. I told her to leave it on top of my car, When I went to pick it up a few seconds later, I could see it was empty,and the driver was racing off, probably chuckling.

Anyway, I expected a big tussle with Amazon, but a couple of clicks on the website and a replacement order was put in the queue with no questions asked.

I can't recall receiving damaged goods but did experience a recent theft from my doorstep. From now on, any parcel deliveries from Amazon or Cda Post get sent to the default address which is the local PO only a ten-minute walk from my home. If we see a package dropped off at our neighbor's house across the street we'll take it around to their backyard if no one is home. One of the benefits of being semi-retired.

The Fedex guy did that when the delivered my Juiced CCX. The day before, I had done everything to make it easy (only 1 car in driveway).

When he arrived I met him outside, ready to assist, he wasnt having any of it. He made a point of getting it on his shoulder and carrying it to me. He was about 5'10" about likely not a pound over #170.

When UPS delivered my $4k acoustic MTB last fall, she basically dragged it out of the truck and dragged it along my driveway. I have it all on video.

Best/worst ever was a delivery where the package was thrown over my 6ft fence into backyard (which is quite a distance from front door). It was actually labelled fragile. I found it when I was mowing my lawn a few days later.

Something like this is my recurring nightmare while I'm waiting for my Frey bike to arrive. I'm banking on Frey being enough of an established manufacturer with appropriate juice with the CCP that their stuff gets proper handling. Then I have to hope Bolton is good enough to ensure US freight companies they use take care of their deliveries ... and me. Waiting is bad enough. Paranoia over shipping is a real thing.

My Fed Ex guy carried the yubabike to my front door, and when I offered him a tenner, carried into my back yard for me. Double boxed, probably 85 lb. The tracker said they were coming that day. I sat out in front yard in a lawn chair waiting for the truck.

Do you actually think Trek, Giant, Specialized, rides their inventory to the dealers who sell for them? I mean what do I know, Trek might have their own delivery fleet. I do believe one thing that holds true, if you can't deal with the stress of "delivery to your door" by all means don't buy online. As sure as the sun sets you will confront shipping damage. Ecotric actually paid for cosmetic frame scratches on my wife's folder,.sent a pic of the box damage and scratches and got an immediate credit to our Pay Pal. Amazon has told us twice to keep the damaged product and sent a new replacement. It's a new ballgame with new rules.

He goes, 'oh that is very smart'. I go yeah, but why do you say that ? He says "Ive loaded those ******** (unprintable) ebikes on my truck and have had to deliver more than a few. " He goes "those *******s weigh 75 to 85 lbs." Then he says " you should see what some drivers do to those ebike boxes once they are offloaded from the truck." Then winks. Then I replied, 'but I thought on your route, you only delivered to businesses.' He goes "Yes, but some business owners have theirs delivered to their business address instead of residential. We have to be a little more careful and treat those deliveries a little better."

The 'big-3' have their bikes shipped in by motor-freight on pallets - for the most part. I have seen semi trucks offloading pallets of bike boxes. Special orders one-off do come UPS or FedEx from the DC.
We ship hundreds of packages every month at work, and get dozens of packages at home, and a very tiny percentage are damaged. It is a non-issue AFAIK.
I can see that if a package is so heavy and bulky that the driver cannot manage it, chances are much higher for damage. YMMV.

It really bothers me when I hear stories like this, and encounter people who have no integrity and no interest in doing their jobs well. I don’t know why, but I’m seeing it more and more now, to the point where I think it has become the norm, rather than the exception.
