encounter people who have no integrity and no interest in doing their jobs well. I don’t know why, but I’m seeing it more and more now, to the point where I think it has become the norm, rather than the exception.

We're re-creating the soviet experience: they pretend to pay us and we pretend to work. The bright young MBAs who turn honest jobs into gig work collect their bonus and promotion and depart the scene before the chickens come to roost.

Regardless, as a biker who is frequently near fedex and UPS trucks, they drive way better than the average motor vehicle despite their big blind spots, and are light years beyond uber&lyft drivers.

Do I live in a paradise country? The courier services appear to be perfect here, with timely and flawless deliveries, and at low cost. You can order the delivery of smaller items to InPost parcel lockers if you don't want to see the courier in person. The Polish vice is named Poczta Polska. The postman will never deliver any parcel to you. They always dump a notice "no one met at the delivery address" into your mailbox, and you have go to the post-office yourself to pick the delivery up there.

The pandemics has caused a small difference: the courier will put the delivery at your door without actually seeing you; or, you can ask for the delivery to an Access Point (like a flower-shop or a liquor store) in advance.

The courier services thrive in Poland. The Poczta Polska goes down.

In Chicago, and out into its large burbs, EVERYBODY passes you. Even if you are doing 90 mph, on the interstates or tollways, somebody is still passing you. You cant stay in the left lane or you will get rear ended, or simply run over, or they will still try to get passed you on the shoulder, or try to literally move you out of the way. Its almost a daily game of chicken. So if You dare get out there, you had better have your pedal to the metal. Same sort of crap happens on supposedly low speed suburban roads, and its everywhere. Its like everyone is in a dire situation to get somewhere, and they have to be fastest and the first. Its become more insane every year.
